Just seeing if there is any ND fans. Who thinks they will be horrible this year or average? The football team that is. I'am going to the game tomorrow and just wondering what you think there record might be and which QB will be the starter for the season.

Oh yeah ND 17. GT 14

He refuses to use that word, called it something else but not "rebuilding".

Switching to a 3-4 may help the D, but the offense is completely retooled too. Charlie can call it what he wants, but it still walks like a duck...

I love the Irish! I just wish they would go back to the old school and bring back the option! Tony Rice is my favorite all-time Irish player!

Notre Dame's defense might be ranked #1 in the country if every drive against them started inside their own 20.

    Ditto!

Their offense looks awful so far. >>

I've always liked their fight song, the best in college sports IMO but I've never been a fan of their team.

<< <i>I've seen enough of this Jones kid. I have no problems with an option style offense but he doesn't appear THAT athletic or that tough. I say throw Clausen in there and let him go through some growing pains. >>

ND's punter needs to take some classes from the Drama department to learn how to more convincingly flop to the ground after his leg is grazed, too.

O-Line can't run block or pass block. Really doesn't matter who the QB is.

ND was horrible. No QB protection, no offense line and horrible running. Team needs alot of work. Rebuilding year yes, but what to work with is another question. They were slow and small compared to GT. Georgia Tech is a good team and could beat Notre Dame anyday this year. Who is QB? It is just one of the several positions that need work. Geez! On the upside I did pick up great autographs if anyone cares. Jerome Bettis autographed card. Tony Rice and Alan Pickett. Those were free and the Bettis was 20 dollars. I still love the game and the band is awesome as always. It will be a long season though.image

The 33 scored by GT was misleading. A lot of that was caused by an ND offense so bad that GT routinely had good field position against a defense that was on the field way, way too long.

Gonna be a long year in South Bend, the team is worse than even I thought. Fortunately I was in Chicago at a play "The Color Purple" which was fantastic. The good news is couple the last recruiting class with this one and they will be back in a couple of years.

  • They will be lucky if they go to a bowl game this yr

There won't be a bowl game for this team. They played 8 freshman and the eventual starting QB had elbow surgery and until last week had difficulty throwing. They lack athletes in the front 7 defensively and are adapting to a 3-4 and overall the team was poorly prepared. This will be a patience year for ND fans and for all the haters, their year to enjoy. image

Penn State next week and then Michigan after that, they could be 0-3 in a short time and putting Weis on the hot seat.

If neither line can get the job done they'll be lucky to win more than a couple of games this year. 9 sacks? 200+ yards rushing against? That was some of the worst line play I've seen in a long time yesterday. None of the quarterbacks were tha bad. Looked like David Carr's rookie year out there.

I was going to make some Michigan jokes here about yesterday's game, but looking at the way ND played yesterday, I think App State beats ND by two TDs anyway, so maybe Michigan still can beat ND unless the Irish quickly figure something out offensively.

That was another stinker - ZERO yards rushing? That line is horrendous.

Where is the 1-2 punch of Bettis & Watters? Can't believe Charlie can get the most sought after QB, but no lineman or RBs.

  • I wonder how long before spoiled brat Clausen and his 'I've got 3 state championship rings!' before he pouts his way to the sideline.

I feel sorry for their kids on defense. Their offense is just so bad that their D is on the field for far too long. You can see they are a fairly decent unit early in the game, but by the second half they're just so tired and beaten up from being out there so much -- between almost inevitable ND three-and-outs -- that they start getting flat-footed, they start missing tackles, they start trying to arm-tackle and get shredded late.

No running game. O- line is horrible. Clausen looked pretty good considering. He is only a freshman and will have a bright future with ND. Looking forward to Michigan. Cant believe these two are both 0-2. Wow.image

I was impressed with Clausen's decision-making. When he was in trouble, he consistently got out of the pocket and threw the ball where no Penn State defenders could possibly intercept it. The problem, of course, that if the best you can say is that he did a good job of salvaging an incomplete pass out of potential disaster, wow, that O-line was bad.

My cousin Dan McGinn used to punt for ND, so I have had a LONG time attraction to their program for that reason. But, I root for the Huskers as I live in Nebraska and ya know the old saying :
when in Rome, do as the Romans.
