newp 1907D Barber Half PCGS AU58: my 20th century Capitol Holder Type set is complete!(PICS ADDED!)

Pictures of the entire collection will be forthcoming soon! this is the obvious last piece. My set is untoned(copper is all RD) and white BRHs don't come up too often, let alone with some meatty luster left after dipping!
image
over three years of searching for this one, many times thought of giving up and then Mark Glicker has this one on the BAY which I happily bidded on and more luckily, won! Is this coin the holy grail of the 20th cent type set?!

btw, Barberman's icon is this coin's twin, my forum name!!!

not the best pics, but you get the idea. had to shoot with front cover off. still glare problems on some pics. I may make a composite of a different type later...

mmm....good question. working on some gold for type, pcgs design type set. may pull from my dansco(premium examples) to submit to pcgs and then put a 19th century typset on the adjacent wall when complete! but this can take some time!

first I have to (hold my breath) and crack out the half. then remove the cover to the Capitol, shoot away, recover with half, develop pics! a project I'm looking forward to! then I go to the local craft store to contemplate framing!

Great coin....would love to see a photo of the coins in the cap. plastic holder. I also have the same set on my wall BUT
most of the coins are circulated.

BTW no toning on the set in over 30 years of hanging on the wall.

Very nice, and yes, probably a sharp AU Barber Half IS the toughest coin in that set. Well done!

    Congrats. image

It seems like a majority of the time an AU58 coin will look much nicer than coins graded in the low mint state range. Your Barber looks to be another example of that. Very nice.

It's nice to be able to display your coins versus having them locked away in a safety deposit box. Very impressive!

Very nice look in the holder! I have the same type of set to do, tho for mine I've decided not to have any proof strikes. Either way, it's a VERY nice set, and undoubtedly better than 99% of such sets in these type of Capital Plastics displays. Thanks for sharing it!

Oh, and superb T1 stander - a twin to the one I ALSO got from Jon at RCNH. They do know their nice Standers, don't they? No surprise since Jon has pursued them for a while. Congrats on your set!

what's nice about the t-1 was that i bought it on ebay before ebay tanked in coin quality. I sent it to Jon just to have a look at it. He and Warren were both pleased w/itimage
their checking was just a small but not insignificant event!

Well, no surprise there as it certainly looks up to their standard. Nice find!

Nice job 1907. I really like the way that you wait as long as it takes for the right coin to come along. I've seen people build nearly complete collections of various series in the time it takes you to find just the right single piece for your purposes.

Nice looking set. BOTH of my Barber halves are 1907 Ds.

It's nice being able to see the whole set at once, rather than it being on pages.
