Opinions on this PSA9 Bob Gibson...

Does it look like a strong 9 to you or an 8? SMR lists at$550.00. What do you think it will end up at?1966 PSA9

    smudge bothers me but its a tough nine
    Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set
  • I'd say no with the smudge.

    Very very slight diamond cut too--but the smudge (quite common on the card) makes it no better than an 8 without the smudge.

    Looks more like it's just crooked in the holder than a diamond cut. Check out the scan of the back, it's lined up a bit better.

    I think the cut on that card is pretty darn good for a '66. The image is great -- bright and clear. To my eye, the only issue is the sumdge and I don't like it at all. If it was sitting next to a dark color band, it might not be so distracting, but it is bordered on one side by white, the other by yellow...ugh.
