I am a relative newby by the standards of many of you that post here regularly. When I first discovered this site a few months back after a couple of years reentry into the hobby, it was a breath of fresh air. Lots of extemely knowledgeable people sharing good information, combined with a spirited contest among those who like to do this registry thing. When a troll would wander by they did not last long.
Whether it is the unfortunate influence of ego and competition on the human being or whatever, over the last week or so there is IMHO a noticeable degradation of the quality of the discussions here. It is not too late to get back to normal and maybe a day or two vacation from the board with no posts but those that are related to purely technical coin matters would be good.
Take a deep breath and relax. Happy new year.

It was related to the Registry in a sci-fi-fantasy sort of way. I was inspired by another post regarding the discussion of set values being unrelated to the registry grade, and how some coins with tremendous eye-appeal can be worth more than their higher-graded counterparts.
I got to thinking about how coins will (perhaps) be graded in the future, for better or for worse, by a machine that is able to discern minute details and assign a numerical grade with perfect accuracy. Well, one thing led to another, and before long, I had built a machine that not only graded coins, but dealt and collected them too!
It could happen...
PS. BTW, Congrats, Chip. #1 in the NGC registry - commems, right?
Nahh, I'm not worried about it - I'll let my post stand as always.
Maybe my sense of humor has been warped by the prices I've had to pay for FS Jefferson nickles lately.

P.S. - Congrats on getting your Commemorative set pedigreed - it sounds like an awesome set. How did you send it in, by armored delivery?
There's no teapot too small for a tempest. You did mention finding human beings around here! I think you'll find things settling down to normal (didn't you just feel it the last day or two, after RC let off steam?), and we'll all be just fine.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Mitch, would you please tell spooly, or whomever, to tell Rick that we think it's a great idea, or, maybe I should tell him myself. I don't know. Can we please start a poll to decide if I should tell 'em, Mitch should them 'em or spooly, or a person or persons of his/our choice should tell him. Let's start the movement now. There's only 358 shopping days left until next christmas.
