PSA and shipping to the East Coast....

It's been 12 days. I remember once it taking this long. I dont know if that is USPS or PSA. All of you East Coasters.....how long does it generally take?

  • Just because your order is finished, doesn't mean they will ship it out right away. Currently they are short staffed in many areas and shipping might be one of them. It might be in their shipping department waiting to get processed, sometimes takes over 2 weeks before an item is shipped.

ok...just thought when it says "date shipped" that would be accurate.

shipping has been very slow by registered mail, I usually get mine in 2 days to Boston, the last 2 return orders have taken 8-12 days to get to me. if it says date shipped , that should mean it went out and you should have received the email with the tracking numbers
  • I am on the east coast and I used to get them in 3-5 days at most. I am on 9 now and I was starting to get really worried. Anyone know why the delays?

I'm in Boston, and I've asked the post office about this before. Their answer is that when it's shipped via Registered Mail, it takes a longer time, due to the security used around registered mail. So expect at least a week from the time it says "Date Shipped."

That being said, it's usually been 3-4 days to get from PSA to me in Boston.

i am in nj and it usually takes in the 10 day range. the post office is slow with registered mail b/c everyone who touches the package has to sign for it, thus slowing down the process.
  • I haven't submitted in over 6 months, but my previous experience was anywhere from 8 to 14 days to mid-Michigan.

    2 Days?! Wow.

  • It seems all mail is slow right now. I shipped a package to California from North Carolina on 8-13 and still has not been delivered as of 8-29 at least according to the tracking information. I also recently had a package take 2 weeks plus to make it to Louisiana from NC. Not quite sure what the problem is.

About 3 weeks ago I had 3 seperate submissions shipped back to me all on the same day. I received 2 in about 5 days and the last about 5 additional days. You will get it in time.

I fail to see anyone mentioning the tracking number PSA sends you via e-mail....

I have two submissions that were shipped to me on the 20th and 21st of August. I live in Parma Ohio, which is a suburb of Cleveland. Neither have shown up yet. Usually they arrive about 5 days after the ship data that is cited by PSA. Seems like things are slower for some reason......
  • They said my order was shipped on 8-17. I called them monday and they said it takes about 15 business days to get to Ohio. Seems to be a longer time then you would think.

  • Registered mail is one of the slowest forms of shipping as it has to be signed for everytime it moves.

Mail is extremely slow right now. 2 of my orders took 8 and 10 days respectively, from Newport Beach to Texas.

  • NJ and most of mine are between 3 and 5 days, usually 3...
  • 3 to 9 days to get to Cincinnati Ohio from PSA.

thought I'd update on my two submissions. shipping dates from PSA were August 20 and August 21. They both arrived today. As previously mentioned I'm just outside of Cleveland....so not too bad although in the past it was usually 4-5 days. Maybe there is a lot of stuffing being mailed now with kids going back to school. al.

I use FedEx 2-day service - back and forth. And that's how long it takes, though sometimes, if a package is shipped to me from PSA on a Thursday, I'll get it on Friday afternoon.

The mail in my area was very light this week, I'm in the Pittsburgh district. But Registered Mail is a different animal - everybody that touches it signs for it. It goes special every step of the way with each truck driver, handler, clerk, carrier etc signing it. We open a separate bag every morning with only the registered in it, it goes directly from the truck driver to the safe.

With all the extra attention, it takes way longer than the parcels that are mainlined. But would you rather have your package of psa 10s hand carried from the truck to the safe, or would you like them on a conveyor belt dropping into the big orange crate with johnny's 70 pound box of reloads dropping in next?

Registered is worth the money and worth the wait.

Next time you go there and there is a long line, when it is your turn POLITELY ask the clerk what he or she feels is the best time to avoid a line. They know the schedules, they can tell you when there is one clerk and when there are more than one clerk. In most small offices like you describe, they even know what time you could usually sneak right in and get right out.

    I hope "teachervido" doesn't mean you're a teacher.

  • I went in at 9:30 in the morning. The Post Office opens at 8. It would make sense that if there's a long line, it best to open another counter/window instead of ignoring it. But that's just me, I'm a teacher, I hope you're not a Federal Worker.

Many places do open another register/counter/window if there's a long line such as the supermarket and the bank. Why can't my Post Office do that?

There is nothing wrong with Federal workers...I"ve worked for Department of Defense for almost 35 years when you count my Army time....also there are Federal workers and there are Postal workers...two different branches of government service. Just like having to have the plumber come back five times to fix the leak, taking your car back six times to get the brakes fixed and having your steak show up burnt when you asked for it medium rare there are good and bad no matter where you work. Well enough about that...but I've found that if I get to my post office when it opens at 7 in the morning that I can usually get in and out....even though only one clerk is working.

Most Post Offices are minimally staffed or understaffed so if someone calls in sick, goes on vacation or has a day off, that makes it worse.

In my station, which is large, most windows are manned between 11 AM and 3 PM, when most customers are on lunch breaks. The busiest days are the beginnings of the month (lots of Money Orders), any day after a holiday ( watch out for the day after Labor Day next week) and anytime there a is a tax deadline coming up ( lots of certified and other accountable mail).
