Spanish Gold ..................... 1786

Here's one for ya straight out of the woodworks! I saw one of these about 6 years ago that was not anywhere near the condition of this one (it was graded VF20) and it sold for about $1800 or so. From the looks of things I think the seller might be a member here (LMK?). Looks clean and somewhat "new" for this particular year, but I have seen genuine coins of this era with similar appeal. Any opinions or comments on it?

The seller is not a member here, to the best of my knowledge, but is somebody I have done business with. His pricing is a bit optimistic, but I didn't mind that when I purchased a half-escudo from him this spring. I needed one for a contest prize over on the Metal Detecting Forum, and there weren't many on eBay with BINs at the time. The deal went fine, and the seller gets full marks in my book.

    You saw a ONE-escudo sell for $1800?
