Question about this As of Titus

I bought the following coin about a week ago, but can't find it listed in Sear. Here is what I know:

TITUS (as Caesar) AE As, issued AD 72. OBV: laurel bust right, REV: military standards. SR-NL

Can anyone give me a reference on this coin and perhaps suggest what it might be worth?

Many thanks in advance!

    Michael,

Do you have better pics? The shadow near the face muffs up the view.

Sure this isn't a Titus Flavius Sabinus Vespasianus? He ruled 69-79 AD.

Check out the Wildwinds page for Titus. Scroll down to RIC 624, and you'll find an entry with a coin that seems to be much the same. The Wildwinds example is in even worse state than yours:

This coin is described there as:
RIC 624: Titus, as Caesar, Æ As. 72 AD. T CAES VESPASIAN IMP P TR P COS II, laureate head right / S-C, legionary standard between two aquilae. Cohen 247.

The Wildwinds example sold on eBay in 2001 for $65.51.

Dave, as far as I am aware Vespasian (AD 69-79) never used T CAES or any variation starting with T on his coins, so this one must be Titus. However, it was issued during the reign of Vespasian, the COS II on the obverse dates it to the year that Titus was Consul for the second time which was AD 72.
