My son has started a FootBall card collection so??

Hey folks, I only venture over here from time to time from the US Coin forum but the last time I did my son saw some posts on FootBall cards and has decided that's what he wants to collect.

Now my question is which brand? with all the ones I've seen on fleabay and other places if you were starting to collect which brand or brands would you collect as the only one I remember as a kid were Topps.

I have a few sets from the 80's (Topps) that I gave to him and bought some 2007 boxes from the Topps online store but for what he got it seemed like alot of $$$$ to me but then my coin purchases seem like that to the misses so any help is greatly appreciated.

Buy wax on ebay. Topps is a good brand for a kid. You could probably get him some Score pretty cheap too. Maybe get him some 2006 or 2005 boxes as they will be cheap now and he will still know all the players. 2006 would be good because he can get rookie cards of a lot of guys who will be having breakout seasons this year like Bush, Maroney, Cutler, Leinart, Young, Addai, Norwood. Colston, etc.

I would second that. Topps and Score are the best entry level cards. You will get lots of cards and its a big set. Feel free to teach
him about trading too!

Also make sure to buy hobby boxes rather than retail and make sure they are full boxes (18, 24, or 36 packs usually) and not the 8 or 10 pack blaster boxes some sell. Be carefull because they will hide that in the listing.

Thanks that gives me a good place to start, he's out washing my truck to earn some money for cards and when he's done we'll look on eBay and follow your advice, thanks again----Tom
