1758 King Ferdinand VI gold

My first time here. I am usually in the U.S. coin forum. I have always wondered what this is and its value.
So,can someone tell me if this is authentic and what it is?

There is no reason to post it in US Coins, as it is a world coin. (However, I see you already did.)

Just wait for somebody to help you ID it here. I am sure there is nothing wrong with your picture; I just cannot view it from this computer where I am at work. If I were at home (where my coin books all are), I would probably be able to help you.

Here, I can't help you and I can't even see the picture, I'm afraid. But probably everyone else can.

It is a Ferdinand VI 1758 Gold 1/2 Escudo 1758 -Madrid mint (d=16 mm).

Yours appears to be a bit worn and there is some damage to the edge which will affect the price.

Welcome to the Darkside, Stefanie! I believe your gold coin might have been mounted (jewelry) at one time, and the mounts removed, leaving the damage already mentioned. This would tend to lower the collector value considerably, but it's still a fascinating piece of history and in my opinion, you can't go wrong with old gold!
