  • I have never had a holiday really phase my auctions any. Some of my best prices have been on Holiday weekends.

Though everyone seems to think that bargains are to be found on holiday weekends, I've also often found that the opposite is true.

Generally a good idea to avoid ending an auction in the middle of a holiday weekend, say on the Sunday before the holiday Monday. If you really must run auctions over a holiday weekend I would recommend ending them late on Monday.

I've had some pretty decent results doing that but I wouldn't list anything you want "maximum" eyeballs to see on any holiday weekend.

Labor day has typically when I've found the best bargains. I don't bother listing in the summer at all.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I agree with Labor Day and next summer I am certainly going to heed that advice as a whole.

How does the summer affect ebay sales?

Not being rude of course, just wondering

Personally, I find most auction prices same as summer than any other season...

I think if you have good stuff, it doesn't matter when its listed or ends. On more common, easier issues, I can see it as a somewhat bad time to end listings. Summer can be really slow too.

Although I've done well in my ebay store during this past summer.
My auctions have suffered a little.

Although I've heard Christmas, Easter, beginning of the school year, end of the school year, tax season, early Jan. when c.c. bills come due for Chrismas spending, etc... as being bad times to list too. Pretty soon there's 'no good time' to list anything.

I think the average person has FAR more things to do in the summer. The more things the more people have to do, the less time they scour eBay for cards.

Ball games, wives that like walks or outdoor cafes, vacations, kids off of school, lighter later so more outside time, golf, fishing, yardwork, bbq's....

Plus after 2 waves of auctions that sold for significantly less than like cards did durin fall and winter, I am a believer of summer auctions not faring well.

What is y'all opinion of starting the auctions on the Saturday evening of Labor Day weekend and then going 7 days? That way it doesn't end on Labor Day weekend? I have a complete set run from 1970 to 1993 that I am wanting to list.

  • My experience has been that holidays don't make very much difference, the only change I would make this week would be to treat Monday as if it were Sunday and have auctions end Monday evening so that people have the whole 3 day weekend to find them.

The hardcore eBay scourers will probably find your auction no matter when you end it, but you might miss a few casual bidders.

I find that the casual bidders will bid more for cards that are "in season". I.E. now is the time to sell baseball and football. I think Holidays have little difference on the prices of cards, mainly because some people will be on vacation away from their computer, but others will be on it more because its a holiday
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
