Large collection buyout- Goudey Ruth, Gerhig goudey, Gerhig canadian goudey and much more! Need help

OK- I had a local guy in town that has about 300,000 worth of cards and has collected for about 30 years. I went over to his house and gave him two partial sets(66 and 69) and about 1000 commons no high #'s of 61 and 62(500 each at most). I also gave 2500.00 in cash and these cards are from packs he opens or cards he has bought over the 30 years. He grades nothing but has bought a few PSA cards etc.

I thought he overvalued my cards and here is what I got- all the goudeys are guaranteed untrimmed and authentic by him-

He paid 2700.00 for the Gerhig and Ruth about three years ago!

Babe Ruth 33 Goudey #149 PSA 4 quality

Gehrig 33 Goudey #92 PSA 5 quality(no creases in either card)

Gehrig 33 Goudey Canadain version #55 PSA 2 quality

Joe Dimaggio 40 Playball #1 PSA 5 quality easy possible 6 but close

1952 Berk Ross Joe Dimaggio PSA 6 Quality possible 7 but looks to be a high grade 6 to me

Just thought it was worth mentioning that the thread was bumped from 5 months ago.

I'm wondering why he would want to get rid of those and still collect others

You may want to rethink buying anything from this clown shoe.

Do a search on his name and you'll find at least two or three threads where he failed to make good on deals. Took him 3 months to refund my money on a box he "got in this same deal". I had to badger him the entire time to get him to either send the box, or send me a refund. He flakes out and disappears for days, even weeks at a time. I can't tell you how many times I heard "It's on the way" or "I'll send tomorrow with dc and throw in something extra". Or my favorite, "I'll send you the box and the refund just to make it right" when I told him I wasn't going to hold my breath after both were supposedly sent... guess what actually did show up? My refund...no box, 4 months later now. At least I got my $$$ back.

I assume the bumper of this is the one who contacted me through ebay, I'll tell you again, your mileage may vary, but I wouldn't deal with Nate again. We were supposed to be "buds" and he d1cked me around for 3 months on a $50 deal. I wouldn't waste that kind of time again.

I know others can have different encounters, but 1980s collector has always promptly completed our multiple transactions.

PayPal just found in my favor and recovered $0.69 of a $13.50 transaction with him. image
He didn't respond to my emails or the PayPal dispute or claim.
It was a P. Manning/Brady/Brees triple jersey card, BTW.

I don't care what you guys think, I'm willing to send cash or a bank check for some vintage raw cards that might be real. Throw caution to the wind, what's the worst that could happen?

So did this guy just make up all of these stories to act like he was getting great finds and deals everyday and he got so caught up in the lie he was selling the cards to prove to us he had them. I remember he sold someone the 83 Topps box for $40 to prove he really got such a great deal because he could not sell it that cheap otherwise.
  • I remember contemplating on whether or not to buy a 54 Topps Banks RC from this sack of sh%$. I'm glad I didn't, because if he had stiffed me, I would have driven to his house and beat him with a crowbar. This kind of crap makes me so mad. I challenge the next son of a bit%$ that decides to come here and try any crap like this to come on down to Tennessee for a nice a$$ kicking! image
  • He gave me a cell phone # in case I wanted to contact him. Not sure if I still have the PM he sent or not.

Boy do I remember him. I may be dumb, I may be ugly, I may be fat (I'm working on it), but I am not dishonest.

I am not the number one fan of the man from Tennessee

He is some realtor with an attorney for a wife that he threatens people with when he someone looks at him cross-eyed.

I guess those "creased" 1966's were good enough for him to trade with no problem.

That gives two conclusions. One the cards were fine. Or two he has no issue giving someone else creased cards. Since I know the answer is the first one, he is someone to avoid.
