As disgusted as I am with this whole Vick thing, I would have to say no I dont think he should be banned for life, I do however think that he deserves jail time and a significant suspension from the NFL. After he pays his debt and clears all this up I believe he should be given a "a suicide" agreement, meening that one more strike and then he will be banned for life. I think in this situation hopefully he as well as others can learn from it and understand it is wrong and should not be tolerated in any capacity.
  • In the heat of the moment, and in the dog-days of summer.....this seems like such a bigger thing than it really is.
Yeah, it's bad, but it's nowhere close to what Ray Lewis did. He's still playing.
It's like no one ever knew dog fighting existed!! Wake up naive suburbanites!

I'm no Vick fan or anything, I just think alot of folks have done much worse and continued playing.
People die every day in Iraq, kids in Detroit sleep in parking lots. I'm not gonna get wound up over a few dogs getting mis-treated.

I wonder how many "animal rights" advocates think Mr. Vick should spend the rest of his life behind bars?
  • Absolutely not.

1 year suspension after he gets out of jail, sure, but lifetime ban from the NFL? No way.

Nope. Do the crime, pay the time. Resume life. Hopefully don't repeat.

No, but what team is stupid enough to sign him considering all of the negative publicity surrounding this and other things this fool has been involved in recently? There is certainly a team who will do it, but is it worth it for an athlete who struggles to play QB?

  • yep. the guy is scum. He's lucky he smartened up to take the plea deal. He was going down hard, all his homies cut and ran.

poor mike vick... my heart bleeds.
  • Gonna be funny to see all those who predicted his demise eat crow when he comes back and resumes his NFL career.

Resumes an already troubled career that lead to a 500 and sub 500 seasons back to back. Yeah I can see teams lining up to take this guy when he's older and losing a step.

Pacman got 1 year for much less.

3-5 year ban seems appropriate for many federal and local offenses, violating the illegal gambling policy, lying to the owner, and lying to the commissioner.

If he can make it back after that, the Raiders will likely have a spot for him. Can't imagine anybody else even answering his agent's calls.

Rae Carruth arranged the hit on his 8 month pregnant girlfriend. She died, I think the baby lived. Rae Carruth got 25 years.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

If he resumes his marginal career for a huge pay cut, who will be eating crow?

A huge pay cut for Vick will still have him earning tons more than the self-righteous crowd calling for his demise, which I find incredibly funny.

Not sure why you feel that everyone is self-righteous for thinking Vick should be punished. He did something wrong and he should be. Just because people feel that what he did was sickening and so there's more of an outcry for him to be punished does not mean they're self-righteous. Probably him sitting up on his pedestal during this whole fiasco made some want to see him fall harder. Others probably figured like with most celebrities, he'd be able to buy his way out of trouble. He couldn't. They're not self righteous. They just want to feel that the justice system is sometimes balanced and to see people with money get some of the same punishment that they would in a similar situation.

Sure, he'll probably be making more money than most when he gets out, but he'll probably be taking more money shots than most while he's in image

  • Woah let's hold on, I never said Vick shouldn't be punished, please stop putting words in my mouth. I never once said that if was found guilty he shouldn't serve time.

What I do have a huge problem with are people suggesting that because of this one instance he should never be allowed to make a living playing NFL football...that is self righteous hyperbole that is just ridiculous.

you speak as if his offense was minor...

whats one instance of animal cruelty, drowning, fighting, gambling.

This more than anything else speaks directly to your character and mindset.

Vick is a brutal thug, a liar and a criminal. He can make a living doing something else. Any NFL Franchise that signed him would immediately be seen in a negative light.

Plus there is no guarantee that he will ever be allowed to play in the NFL again.

No I didn't, and there you go AGAIN making assumptions and putting words in my mouth. It was indeed ONE infraction with the law and that will definitely factor into the sentence.

Knock it off, I never said that....now please, AGAIN, stop putting words in my mouth. Quit reading into what you want to be there and read what I said.

He'll be back in 3 years, and any NFL franchise would be seen in a negative light? Nah, just to those who pretend to be pious individuals.

Umm the public outcry will be there. There will be so many signs and banners everytime he plays it will make the Bonds stuff look tame. You got to remember that PETA and even the more militant animal rights groups will never let this go. They will picket every game, they will flood his teams endorsers with tons of petitions, he will get death threats, the team will get death threats and I wouldn't be surprised if an ELF doesn't actually try and take him out or bomb the stadium he plays at. These guys are crazy and don't mess around. You should read about what happened to Glen Benton of the metal band Deicide when he stated he killed animals for fun. They bombed his concerts and chased him around the globe for years.

If you're speaking to me, I never once said that you said he should not be punished? So it is you who should stop putting words into others mouths... I said I have no idea why you feel people calling for his head are self-righteous. Then went on to explain why I felt some were so angry with him. Please indicate where I said you thought that. Further, not every person who's bit<hed about him thinks he may not deserve a second chance. But for those who don't feel that he does, that doesn't necessarily make them self-righteous. Maybe they just feel that his crime is that bad. To each his own.
