I for one think PSA has egg on their face after this deal. Ban me once, shame on you, ban me 6 times, and I'll just pay for a membership and get to say whatever I want. There are several positive contributors to this board leaving, and there is one guy who gets to stay and continue to do his best to push away some more.
Of course I didn't renew my membership, so who cares what I think?
Stitzen why can't someone just disagree with you w/o it being hatred and angst. Just yesterday you posted this in the Red Sox thread
If you believe that 10 hits over 6 innings isn't getting shelled, well, sir, I suggest you go learn something about baseball. 10 baserunners in 6 innings is a miserable start.
I personally believe giving up 2 runs in 6 innings is an OK start. Not shelled. He also did not give up a walk and stuck out 8. If you had Clemens on your fantasy team you did great in ERA, Wins, K's and only your WHIP took a hit big deal. Bottom line his team won and someone might say scattering hits and stranding runners is a sign of a good pitcher. However, you let out the "go learn something about baseball" line and all semblence of reasonable conversation is out the window.

Trouble is 'scattering' 10 hits over 6 innings isn't the sign of a good outing, its the sign of a lucky one that only 2 runs scored.
<< <i>Ax, you are such a walking contradiction, it surprises me that your head doesn't explode. In the Brady Quinn thread, you denounced his good game agains USC because, and I quote:
<<The only thing that matters is the W, and USC got the win.>>
But somehow, in this case, the W, which Clemens got, means nothing and he had a bad game to boot, which only YOU seem to conclude.
Gee, you think there's a problem with the logic there??? >>
It surprises me that you're actually trying to compare a QB with a starting pitcher. Clemens got lucky (and it's not just him, many pitchers get lucky) in only giving up 2 runs when he gave up 10 hits in 6 innings. You put 10 runners on in 6 innings and I'd be willing to bet one time out of 10 you only allow 2 runs. When you allow nearly 2 runners an inning, you're fortunate in only giving up 2 runs. He was shelled - Detroit just didn't collect runs when they should have.
Gee, you think there's a problem with your being too defensive with Mr Million Bucks a Start?

Anytime a pitcher gets that many guys on he's really tempting fate in expecting a low run total. Its not opinion, its math. Sorry that because it came in criticizing a yankee that somehow makes the argument less valid.

Has nothing to do with a Yankee, except for the fact that you made it about a Yankee. Clemens has given up 10 hits once in what, 13 starts, and won. King Felix has given up 10 hits or more in 6 of 22 starts, going 3-1 with 2 NDs, which the Mariners won.
Same old Ax, looking for anything to critique about the Yankees and then does a 180 when he can't back up his opinion because of the play of his Mariners.

Just an observation.. Personally, don't know how credible a poll is when one of the subjects has created at least 6 aliases in the past 8 months. One would naturally assume that he's still making them so something, for once, can fall into his favor.
As a side note, I still haven't voted. Waiting for option C: everyone loses
Good luck

So from my selfish perspective I feel like I lost.

I'm giving this a single "bump" to ask why there is such a disparity in the vote.
People goofing the poll?
People disliking stown by a 2 to 1 margin?
People liking Axtell?
People just think Axtell won? Sometimes a cigar IS just a cigar.
Anyone care to comment?
Either here or via PM?

edited to add: at the time of this post the vote stood at 10 to 22 in favor of Axtell winning.
