Help on Vintage Grades and avoiding OC qualifiers.

First of all, sorry about the number of scans to follow but I am putting together my first vintage submission with a bunch of 67-68 FB cards and need some help from those of you that are more experienced. I am thinking of sending these in and asking for no qualifiers but I am only interested in 8's so those that would not achieve a straight 8 I'll take out of the submission. I know it's alot of scans but if you have some extra time, let me know your opinion on which of these cards (just based on the centering) would probably score an 8 with no qualifier. I appreciate any help you can offer me!

I can't tell the corner strength from your post.

Also -- there are a number of cards that you scanned that would be qualified for centering at the NM/MT level. I'm not really interested in measuring the centering of each of the cards in your scans. Bakken is CLEARLY off-centered and would be qualified. But if you are going to be submitting --- you really ought to invest *your own time* and efforts into trying to measure centering. I think many people here are very happy to help with a question or two, but it is somewhat egregious (in my mind) to ask us to review your entire submission because you can't be bothered to review the centering criteria and judge your own cards. And then bump the thread two hours later because no one fell over backwards to help you.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Every single card is OC with many tilts, I would not waste your money submitting those.

I realized this was alot of cards to show but by no means did I expect anyone to measure the borders on these cards. What I was hoping for was someone willing to eyeball these and give a rough idea of what might be able to get by with an 8 if I asked for no qualifiers. I am definitely up for doing the legwork myself, but I have only had 2 submissions before and those have been modern so I haven't ever had to worry too much about centering. Perhaps someone can help me with ways to measure? I only turned to the boards for help because I am new at this and many of you have much more experience. If I took advantage of your experience but I'm just trying to avoid sending in cards I'll later regret.

So let me change my question. What is the best way to measure boarders without getting too high-tech?

Charlie...here is what I use to measure centering. Works well and have had good luck with it. Here is the link.

Here's the answer you want... we'll assume the corners are strong enough to make 8's, as I can't see them in the scans, the cards that are worth sending in that are within the centering standards of an 8 just from a quick look (you don't need a ruler and all that stuff to measure centering, graders certainly don't use one, it's all just eyeballed):

Saimes, Tensi, Richter, Talamini, Bass, Saul, McCloughan, Willard & Jeter.

    The rest aren't worth submitting.

I would recommend taking those 9 cards out of the top loaders and putting them in card savers that do not allow for movement when you send them in.

    Good luck

I really appreciate the advice. I know the corners/surface, etc. you can't really tell but I was more concerned about what might meet the 8 requirements for centering alone. Thanks for your input!
