Baseball's Current Dream Team

SI.com's Tom Verducci did a very interesting piece on Baseball's Dream Team (All Time, Current, and Future). I want to start a different thread for each one since I think they are all very interesting. Each team features a complete roster with reserves, bullpen, and coaches. I think he did a pretty good job overall of compiling the lists. I only disagreed a handfull of times.

STARTERS

C - Joe Mauer. I agree.

1B - Albert Pujols. I agree.

2B - Chase Utely. I agree.

SS - Derek Jeter. I think Jose Reyes should be in this spot.

3B - Alex Rodriguez. I agree.

LF - Manny Ramirez. I agree

CF - Ichiro. I agree.

RF - Vladimir Guerrero. I agree.


ROTATION

Johan Santana. I agree.

Roy Halladay. I agree.

Roy Oswalt. I agree.

Jake Peavy. I agree.

Justin Verlander. I agree.


CLOSER

Mariano Rivera. I agree.


COACHES

Manager - Jim Leyland. I agree.

Pitching Coach - Rick Peterson. Not sure.

Hitting Coach - Rudy Jaramillo. Not sure.


RESERVES

C - Russel Martin. Having watched Yadier Molina's defense the past 2 or 3 seasons, I would rather have Molina as a backup.

Infielders - Jose Reyes. Miguel Cabrera. I would have Reyes in the starting lineup and put Ryan Howard on the team.

Outfielders - Grady Sizemore. Barry Bonds. Matt Holiday. I think I agree. I would like to put Griffey somewhere in there.

Bullpen - Trevor Hoffman. C.C. Sabathia. Ben Sheets. Brandon Webb. Fransisco Rodriguez. I think I would replace Ben Sheets with Billy Wagner.


What's your thoughts?

At this point, I'd rather have Putz as a closer than Rivera, whose best days are behind him.

I think I might lean more towards Hanley Ramirez at SS and Carl Crawford in left, but that's kind of my speed/power combo bias at work.
