Madden 2008

Meh...

Madden and his team could at LEAST add some new commentary, new moves, etc. Honestly, the game hasnt changed now in what, 3 years?

Dont waste your $ like I did...

I thought it was supposed to be better this year? I didn't buy a copy today, figured I would wait for the weekend when I'd have some time to play it.

But, ever since EA won the exclusive NFL license, Madden has stunk. 2K Sports puts out much better sports games, and its a shame they can't do a proper NFL game for a few more years.

  • I bought the 2k football the last year it was out (2005?), as it came out for like $20 when new and it was out a couple weeks before Madden. Thought it was fun, thought it was a great game until Madden came out and just absolutely smoked it.

The Madden franchise is the best-selling for a reason: it is the best. This year 60 frames per second if you're like me and playing on a 360. Bunch of small touches that make the game more realistic, like mid-air collisions, and making the hurdle actually a risky move, instead of an easy out.

Just started playing tonight and looks like a blast so far.

Can you gang tackle and is there true pile-ups? Also, are the stats somewhat realistic?

I'm picking up my copy today....it's the only sports video game that I pretty much buy every year. I generally skip a year or two on the other sports because I like to run franchises and that takes quite some time depending on the sport. Baseball can run me two years (I don't play all that often and I like to play vs sim on the games) to run a 30 year franchise. The reason for that is that I'm also playing the hockey, basketball and football and running franchises on each. During the seasons, I get pumped up and start playing the games and then drop two or all three of the others.

I play PS2 probably twice a week and that's all I can muster at this point. That's why it takes me so long to finish these things. image

Yes, and they've dialed back the whole using hurdle to get away...you hurdle and get hit you will likely fumble. Throw in the much more real fatigue situations (cold weather teams going to a hot weather site) and you have a much more realistic presentation of football.

Do they have level 15 baking powers?

Baking in a football game? I think you've gotten your game genres crossed up.

Yep, at least there would be some incentive for EA to make the best game they can. Now, if you want an NFL licensed game, Madden is it. Don't get me wrong, this years Madden may be fantastic (I am buying a copy tomorrow) - but I think the guys over at 2K Sports just have a better feel for sports games. I spent a lot of time this winter playing the 2K Sports NCAA basketball sim, a fantastic game.

Run down with the option to pass up. Gets three yards on almost every play. 3x4=12. The play had to be outlawed or limited.

    Anybody recognize this?

Not a bad game, I am a little dissapointed they dont have more changes though.

I agree. I got the game yesterday and played a couple times. It doesn't seem different at all except that you can see which roles each player has earned before the snap. Big deal. I know there are other changes, but they aren't obvious enough to warrant a $50 purchase.

Same problem here. I don't like the controller feel and x is in the wrong spot image

When games come out that are made for PS3, it will be worth the wait.
