Are Baseball (Sports) Cards Recyclable???

Does anyone know with certainty if baseball cards, and sports cards in general are recyclable? Most garbage pickups and recycling centers take "mixed paper" and was curious if anyone knew for sure if cards would qualify or if the inks, holograms, etc might be contaminants. My guess is that they are recyclable.

I'm speaking in terms of the 1980s-1990s stuff that literally isn't worth the paper it is printed on.

I once made a makeshift bong out of one of those Pinnacle cans and shredded up some 88 topps baseball to smoke on top and was seeing Ken Oberkfell, Jerry Don Gleaton, Damaso Garcia, and Steve Jeltz having a makeshift curling match in a bowling alley.
