Some scammers steal a photo of a good card, then send you a crappy card. Some sellers buy psa 1-2-3s and then talk them up and guarantee they are authentic and not trimmed or your money back "this card looks like a 7" when they know it was a 5.
Some downplay faults like forgetting the qualifier is there. Some never send the card.
jim- Not sure all of those fall into the category of scams. They are all dishonest, but people who sell a fake 52 Mantle in a PSA case with a doctored slip are scammers. People who do not mention the qualifier in the description are shady and dishonest, but I would not call that a scam. The cracking cards out of holders and selling, not sure that is a scam unless the card was slabbed trimmed. I think we have all disagreed with a grade we have got on a card and cracked and resubmitted. Again, not exactly honest but not a scam.
Scams- Counterfeit cards, now nearly any card can be counterfeited. Cards in frosty PSA holders photoshoped holders or cards Selling cards with stolen scans fake autographs (or reproductios as some will argue) Fake patches in legit cards trimmed or doctored cards resealed packs searched packs the list goes on....
<< <i>So the scammers on ebay photoshop a fake card and send you nothing? Or do theysend you a fake card? >>
The one piece of advice I can give you is hang around these boards long enough and you will be able to spot most Suspicious auctions from a mile a way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the people on here are the best at pointing out how the scammers work...

How did you know I bought a fake mantle?? It wasn't in a psa case but it was a laser printed copy of what was supposed to be one of the 52 reprint set from the 80s.
You're right, not everything I listed is a scam but what I listed happens and it's dishonest.
