I won this in an online raffle 10 years ago (1897 1c - 1 in neck)...

In the rec.collecting.coins newsgroup. Apparently, this variety had not caught on at that time. I grade it a VG-10. What do these normally go fo nowadays?

That one, a similar grade to yours, if I remember, brought about 350.00.......

<< <i>From the obverse picture I think your grade is pretty conservative, I'd say it's an easy Fine and maybe VF. This time last year I sold the example below in a PCGS Fine 15 holder for about $125 (eBay auction), your coin looks a little nicer and raw should be worth close to that. Get it in a PCGS VF20 holder and it would probably fetch more like $200.

The coin from the photo does not appear to have full liberty and therefor could not grade higher than VG. I agree with the poster that the coin is VG-10

My question... Does PCGS give more leniency on this particular coin because it's a variety (ie. less likely to bodybag for minor "issues"?)
