I'm impressed that you can remember the sources for so many of these cards. By the time I get mine back, I usually can't even remember if they were really mine.

I try to write it down. On this sub I sent in the best of the copies I had left. (or at least seemingly)

I'm wondering if mixing the modern in with the vintage helped. I'll tell you why I say that. When I sent in numerous copies of these modern cards on "modern only" submissions, I was getting killed. I had several 6's, a smattering of 8's and 9's and the occassional 10. I have yet to hit a 10 on 15 tries with Greg Lloyd (luckily I just bought one). I hadn't gotten higher than an 8 on Giles and the Pro Sets were never higher than a 9 with the exception of 2 psa 10's on McDaniel. The Pickens, I've sent in 3, have been 2 8's and now this 9. All of my Wilber Marshalls have been 7's and ZImmerman has been 7 and 8. I did MUCH better with the modern on this sub. It was the best of what I had left to submit, but I never pick out crap to send in to begin with, these are the results I expected on a few other subs. Net net, I ended up with what I wanted.

Yeah, that definately helps. I always put the newer cards on the back end of an order like that, so they compare favorably to the older cards. It's hard to say how much it helps, but it certainly seems to make a difference.

One other thing - putting older cards in a sub may rid you of some of the newbie graders.
  • envoy98envoy98 Posts: 4,000 ✭✭
    ah. that could be too.

You're either on to something, or on something, but I tend to notice the grades seem to be a bit better. But then the same could be said for the vintage in that the modern makes it compare less favorably.

Dave, I'd actually love to trade the Humphrey 8 for a Hanburger or a Rich Jackson 8. I have a Humphrey 8 already that I bought from Andy a couple weeks ago. I'll pm you a price on the Zimmerman.

Didn't the last Hanburger 8 sell for around $250 or so? I have one at psa currently hoping for an 8...

VCP doesn't have any prices for an 8 on Hanburger. 7's sold for $12 and $14. The Jackson in an 8 sells the same as the Humphrey. I wasn't quite clear on that in my reply.

That's crazy, I've been looking for a Hanburger 7 for over a year and havn't seen one. I don't know how I missed them. I'm pretty sure the Hanburger is a low pop and brought that much. Maybe Jason can confirm..

    67 Hanburger 8's sell from $175-$225...I'd pay $200 yesterday..lol

POP is like 13, so they are very tough in PSA 8.

Not if you list the vintage cards first. It's doubtful the grader would go back over the vintage stuff after grading the newer cards.

    Josh,

Nice grades...now you have me itching to get my grades!!! I have around 100 that were logged in July 11th. It looks as if I have another 2 to 3 weeks before I hear anything.

    Dave,

I believe I have a few extra Hanburgers in 7 if you are interested. Also, I believe the last Hanburger PSA-8 sold sometime in Jan/Feb for ~$325. I ended up selling mine to the underbidder and am still looking to replace it.

    Envoy98,

    I'm interested in the 86 Marshall PSA-8.
