bought a near 71/2 bkb set today. UNbelievable!!

I went to my local card show yesterday and saw this older guy sell a GORGEOUS 71/2 set to a dealer for $400. I looked the set over closely afterward and it was a beaut. Well I got the guy's number, because he said he had more (said he had opened a couple vending boxes)

well today he called and he had a set -10 cards that he sold me. No Barry or Issell RC's, but what can ya do. Centering wasn't as great on this set but again what can ya do. Got some nice cards out of it. 87 total that I think will 8 or above (or star that will 7 or above). Of couse I wish some of the stars were a little better centered, esp the maravich because it looks mint otherwise, but what can you do.

here are a few:

Great set. Between the team name in bubbly letters, the brightly colored square in the middle, the 3 different fonts, and the first letter in their names being inexplicably red, This could be the tackiest 70s design from any sport.

You also gotta love Maravich's Hawks jersey.

    Thanks guys!

Does anyone know how that spot would affect a card such as the Elgin Baylor?

Did you pay $400? At first I thought you paid too much, but I looked at eBay completed and I think you paid about what it is worth. The OC really hurts these cards though, I bought 2 Maravichs and an Issel RC all PSA 9 (OC) from 4SC for about $12 each.

Allen, I got the near set for $300.

Anyone have an idea about that Baylor card?

How original was the Florida team for their name, the Floridians'.

    Nice cards Favre.

I have PSA 9's from 4SC with the spot like on the Baylor, but it's my understanding that a 9 should not have such a spot.

And I think the spot on Calvin Murphy is not a spot but an actual zit, I don't believe it will affect the grade and should not draw a qualifier.

Finally, look at that photo of Kareem and tell me that steroids weren't rampant back in the early 1970's. No one could get a physique like that by just working out. Same goes for Pistol Pete.
