12 Hockey sets at Mastro

Just wanted to let everyone know my hockey sets are in the Mastro August auction. They are still on the registry but listed as Mastro.

Hey Greg,

Too many reasons to bore you with but I'll give you the main two.

First, the loss of my Dad in January and second, two kids in college.

I've decided these cardboard gems that we spend so much time and resources acquiring were way too high on my priority list. Maybe someday down the line I'll jump back in but right now I have people in my life who are more important.

Speaking solely for myself here. To each his own.

Alright, enough of that. How about this August auction Mastro has put together. Unbelievable collection of items this time around. I kind of wish it was a little weaker so my sets would do better.

Looks like the auction has some heavy hittin' sets in it.....1915 Cracker Jack #4 on the registry going for $205K right now! Old Judge lot going for nearly $120K! Mantle PSA 9 Bowman rookie hitting near $75K!

Crap, I was hoping one of the hockey guys from the registry won a set or two. I figured you'd be going after the WHA sets and maybe the 71 set.

There may still be hope for you for that Howe card. According to my contact at Mastro a lot of dealers bid on these sets and then break them up.

Maybe one of the "big guys up north" got 'em.

I was the one who purchsed lots 912 & 913 in that auction.
I want to thank you for the excellent work in putting them together and I assure you that I will take good care of them and try to build on your fine efforts. I will probably merge the best cards from my set along with others that I have not yet entered into your '71 set.

I neglected to add that I am very sorry about the loss of your father.
I lost mine back in 1998 and I miss him so much. For comfort, I cling my dearest memories of him and the important things that he taught me.

Hey Mike,

You're a true 70's fan much like myself. I contemplated keeping those two sets as they were my favorites. You got a great deal on the 71 set as I figure I almost put double that into it. Hopefully you have an upgrade for the Orr or Dryden????

be getting back in someday.

I hear you about your Dad. Luckily I have tons of pics of him at all the auto. signings to look at every day. Seems I've had a funeral almost every month this year. I guess it happens as we get on in years.

Hey Bob:

I will be able to upgrade about a dozen cards or so. I agree, it was a reasonable price, but there was a lot of competition with other sets in that auction so prices were a little lower than usual. At least that is what I figure.

If I ever decide to sell that set I'll try to let you know first.
