This is some serious cheese

Wow.

I can't believe how crazy some people can get over a common for crying out loud.

Yes, it is a low pop, but it isn't even the lowest in the set.

Just figured I would put mine out there again. I am now up to 75% done in my set, if any collector were interested in picking up a very high grade set at a very reasonable price.

  • Also wanted to say.

I hate the BS that EBAY does now, where you can't see the underbidders anymore.

$503 for a '64 Baseball common, low pop or not is crazy money.

Congrats to the seller and the buyer for finding this card for his set.

I wonder if this card was among some of those ungraded ones that didn't pass the muster test with PSA from this seller? You know, the deleted thread.

I agree. It's almost like eBay's just decided that shill bidding's OK now that they've made it almost impossible to detect.
  • Prices for raw stuff is getting out of hand. A coin dealer from Las Vegas just paid $100,000 for a set of 119 S74 colored silks that are supposed to be near mint, but not in slabs. They came from a collection in Ohio.

According to another thread, probably no longer posted, this could could have fit the short tune "shave and a hair cut"

It looks like the 64s were clean but his 60's image. Go backwards about 10 cards from this cert and you will see. Look at his 1960 Del Crandal that is on and it looks short T/B.

  • Come on guys. This thread has nothing to do with trimming or anything like that.

In defense of trimming. If I were to buy a large raw collection and some of the cards were altered before I bought them without my knowledge, would that then make me guiltly of trying to pass off bad cards?

I was just making a remark at how crazy the price on this card was even being a low pop card.

I mean it only sold for over 21 times SMR.....Wow....that is nuts

Furthermore, I have dealt with Scott many many times and have NEVER ahd a problem with any of his cards.

Umm that you know of. Any dealer who consistently submits altered cards at the rate of 70% per submission gets a big image from me

Exactly. These are not just some random pre-screening mistakes that the submitter overloooked. These are legit chop jobs that sometimes PSA catches and sometimes unfortunately they don't.

I would never buy from a seller if I had some pretty substantial proof that many of their cards are shorties. The subs and the cards around them that don't get slabbed tell the story.

Another poof thread in the works.......

I hope PSA poofs all of these threads because it just shows that they care more about high volume submitters than the people they purport to protect. Remember the whole point of grading was so you the collector had some assurances the card was real, unaltered and in a certain agreed upon condition. PSA seems to be willing to let people who send in tons of altered cards do so w/o a slap on the wrist for doing so or a warning to us collectors. Thanks for keeping it safe out there PSA.
