Questions about VCP - Vintage Card Prices

Basically, is it worth it. The site seems very useful but I would like opinions to make sure.
If I read everything correctly, I would be able to enter a particular card and see the results of the last 25 auctions for that particular graded card. Is this correct?
Does it show just the average of the last 25 auctions or does it list each auction individually? If individually, does it breakdown if each was an ebay auction, Mastro, etc?
I guess this would help me set a price when I list on ebay. If a card is listed in the SMR at $130.00 and averages $100.00 in past auctions with one ending at $200.00 and the rest between $80.00 and $100.00, it would make sense to list the card at about $60.00. Is this what most of you think would be accurate? I am sure I will come up with a few more questions but this would be a start.
Thanks,
Bob

I love VCP. For one, I know about what to expect to pay for a card when I am looking to buy. You can always tell which cards in a certain grade are centered well due to the price it realizes. But it breaks it down by company-PSA, SGC, and BVG. Then when you choose the grade you want to see, it lists a bunch of completed auctions on Ebay and other major auction houses. There are links to those auctions where if still showing, you can look at the auction. It gives you each price realized. I dont know how far they go back or how many of a certain card they will list though.

To me, its worth every penny of the 10 dollars a month I spend.
  • It was worth the cost for me. I use the site lots. I feel I easily get the money back just by knowing the market for the cards I am buying better. Plus having a current value on your collection for insurance purposes is nice too.

Something I just realized is that I can just sign up for the $10.00 for a month to see how I like it. Then sign up for the year if it is worth it to me.
    Thank guys,

    It is worth it.
  • SMR is worthless. Too many mistakes. Some prices are high, some prices are low. Its too easy to make a mistake if you rely on it.

VCP is definitely worth it if you have the brains to use market information (which most people should).
PSA should hook up with VCP or a competitor and scrap SMR.

Well worth it. The wantlist service finds cards my searches don't, and the realized price section has paid for itself many times over. Every time I wanted something they didn't offer it was done within days of my suggestion, if not sooner.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • I love and it find it very useful as well.
  • It is really good. I wouldn't be a member if not for the guys on here talking about it. Worth every penny.

this is what I did and I ended up emailing bobby 5 minutes into my subscription to switch to the year. worth it many times over!
  • Just wanted to thank everyone here for the support. The National was great for us to go there and meet so many members. Over the 5 days there we had over 100 people come and tell us how much money we saved them. And how they don't know how they survived in the past with out the service. It was great seeing people walking tables with an I-Phone checking values on VCP.

We have come a long ways in a short year since we launched. And would not be here with out the members support and suggestions, we actually listen to what every ones says and try hard to make it happen. I would say we are about 80% complete on the site functionality with a lot more to go. Have some major changes coming soon that you will all find very useful.

    Again Thanks,

    Bobby

I love the site. I will say though, that I wish I could use it on my blackberry. Once you do the search you can't click any of the results, which is a bummer. Maybe they'll fix that though. image

I have saved money and made more sales because of it as well. I ask realistic prices based on what recent copies sold for, not just what I paid for what SMR says. So from my perspective, it's great from both sides of the deal. I love it.

We have to develop the site so it is usable on your PDA and it will be here in the near future. Right now checking my list of additions to the site we have almost 30. as of now we do about 3-4 a month. We test every new feature extensively because there is a ripple effect when you change one it may effect others. So have some faith it will be there and we are aware of the need.

BTW, the 25 listing for every card per grade and grader is going to be expanded to infinite. We want 10 years from now to be able to compare prices over time and not by the number of transactions.
