Cards stuck together........

Is there a trick or a better way to pull the cards apart without damaging the faces of them. I bought a box of 1993 Upper Deck and the cards are so stuck together that when you pull them apart, it pulls some of the face off the card. This also happened when I opened a box of the 1997 Golf with Tiger Woods. I don't feel like ruining cards anymore..... please help!

Put the box in the freezer overnight before opening. If the cards are slightly stuck together, this will help lessen or elimiate the papaer loss. However, if they are totally stuck, you're screwed. Also, when you open the packs, hold the cards together and give a little bend vertical and a little bend horizontal. You should here the cracking of them loosening up, which is much better than individually ripping them off one by one.

No, this one actually works. A little apple butter never hurts though.
  • Never tried this before, but what about real thin wire or maybe fishing line and pull it down between the cards........kind of like those wires that they cut through blocks of cheese with.
  • ....sorry my mind is in the gutter image

next time keep a box of tissues or papertowels hand... or use a sock.

    Oh sorry, wrong sticky substance.

  • So I tried this last night with a box of 1994-1995 Topps Basketball. While I was able to pull them apart easier, but still didn't help with paper loss on a 7-8 cards per 12 card pack. What I'm wondering is what causes this? Heat? Time? Bad luck? The seller I bought these from on Ebay offered me a refund and he does have another box, but I obviously don't want a repeat of the same situation.

It seems that the gloss they used to use breaks down over time.

I don't think the card manufacturers packaged these cards with the future in mind.

My first thought when I read the title was that they were Bench Warmers cards.
