Someone paid too much? 1912 Imperial Tobacco near set

I just heard from another collector that a near set (88/90 cards) of 1912 Imperial Tobacco baseball cards averaging EX-NM were sold privately for 30K! Doesn't that sound a little steep?

a PSA 7 card from the set is worth >$200.

Price seems a little high -- but not outrageously. It's not like you can easily find these cards these days. It does seem like there has been generally more on the market in the last 12-18 months, but on the order of maybe 100-150 cards total that have changed hands...so it can be pretty scarce, and someone can easily pay a premium for getting most of it done in one shot.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
