Estate Sale Finds actually happen after all.

I am not one to believe most (or all) of the Ebay claims that they found an old box of cards at an estate sale... but after this mornings experience I'm more of a believer. I had the mother of a friend that works with estate sales keep an eye out for any older cards that ever came up and after 2 years of no calls she told me about a sale this weekend that had tons of "really old cards". She didn't have more detail than that but I thought I need to at least show up. So the sale is this morning and there are indeed tons of cards... loads of 5000 count boxes of 88 Donruss, 90 Fleer, 87 Topps...you get the picture. I did pick up a box of 93SP BB with 3 extra Jeter RC's for $15 and a 94SP set with a nice Arod for $20 so there were a few nice finds. Then amidst a big pile of junk cards I saw a shoebox that had a 68T FB card on the end of a stack of cards so I just grabbed the box as it was labelled $10 and for another $2 was a smaller box of some more 68T FB that were in toploaders. I grabbed them without looking much further as by then the room was quite crowded and I had to make sure I wasn't missing out on any other stuff. Well, I just go home and looked through the 2 boxes and although it's not extremely old stuff...I still love what I got for the price!
The $10 box had a stack of about 600 FB cards of 65 Philadephia, 67 Topps, and 68 Topps. A good number of these cards look like they're straight out of a vending box! Stuck in there were about 80 of the Topps Insert posters (including 3 full sets of 16) as well as a little baggy with another 80 or so 1969 Topps BB Decal inserts. I'll post some scans below. For the extra $2, the box of toploaders included some outstanding 68's of mostly stars including the ones scanned below. Great quality and tough to beat the price!
I think I'll have a fun weekend going through this stuff to see what is grade worthy because at first glance it looks like I'll at least get a hundred or more graded. Probably hard to see as I group-scanned but enjoy the pics (too bad about the Jim Brown print defect as it looks great otherwise)...

By the way...anybody know how these decals grade out with centering, etc..

Maybe it is just me, but does that Namath on the bottom right look odd?? Side borders look straight, but that top one looks tilted??

"Hey, Dan, check out these old cards I just found!"
"Any Mantle? Mays? Aaron?"
"No, Biggio, Van Poppel, Jeffries..."
"Oh."
