Here is my last purchase at ANA. This is similar to Eglit 111 but Eglit-111 is 77mm and this is 70mm. Also, Eglit only lists it in silver and this is bronze. Rulau has the complete list as silver, gold, and bronze in 70mm, and bronze and silver in 77mm. This is a Spanish medal with the obverse scene depicting the sailing of Columbus while the reverse is a scene upon his return in front of the King and Queen.

I don't know the medals very well at all and I didn't "actually" read you post. I did see the medal and thought wow wonder what the book says. So I take out the book and go right to the Columbian Exposition and I couldn't find it.
