Old vehicle tag

I dug up an old vehicle license tag from 1919. It might be cool to know who it belonged to or what type of vehicle. Anyone know if the Department of Motor Vehicles would give out info like that since it's so old? I have not yet called. I know how these government offices are with the whole runaround stuff. I doubt the DMV would have any info on something that old. I'd bet their records only go back to the late 50s at best. Probably only the 70s in the computer.
There might be microfiche info at your public library.
    Hey... sit on it!

That's pretty cool. That is a very early license tag, for sure!

I have only found one, and that in a non-dug context. I bought an old house in NC once (built 1930) and in the detached garage building there was a 1940 NC license tag up in the rafters.
