You need someone with a lot more available time than I have to check all of those in Krause, or you could go to your local public library and consult Krause on your own. Most libraries have a recent 20th Century Krause.

(I don't collect Mexico, so I have no idea how accurate Krause values are.)

    Awww, shucks... image

I had the time, and since I've had more help than I probably deserve from others through the years, I figured it's the least I can do.

Besides, I've got all these books... image

Can you provide a description of the coin? It appears that the federal mint in Mexico City didn't make any 2 pesos coins in 1915, but several revolutionary varieties were minted. Just off the top of my head, issues from Guerrero, Guerrero/Campo Morado, Guerrero/Suriana and Oaxaca were made.

  • Thats a California fractional gold TOKEN.
The real ones say Dollar or Dol. Could still be counterfeit if it has denomination but without it's a common token. Worth nothing (to me) but might find them in a dealers you pick junk bowl. I've seen ducks on ebay buy this kind of stuff for up to $20/$30. I have one and I wont put it on ebay to ripoff someone .

Ok- that's an Oaxaca revolutionary piece. There are several different varieties but I don't have access to my catalogs right now so I can't id it any more completely. It's probably valued around 50 bucks or so (I'm working from memory here).

edited to add... in addition to the KM# provided below, your coin appears to be the OAX110 variety. This is one of the most readily available varieties of the Oaxaca 2 pesos issues.
  • My 2007 North American Krause Book lists it as Km# 746. The obverse is the Sixth bust, and Reverse reads 2 pesos. It is valued here at anywhere from $10 in VF up to 55 in XF. I am terrible at grading so I'll let someone else try. Hope this helps.
