Where's the Giambi bobblehead? He's admitted under oath that he knowingly took steroids, yet his name is never mentioned. Interesting to see how fans pick and choose who they will hate.

Bonds was winning multiple MVPs before the juicing began, was one of the top 5 players of all time. When you're the best you have the biggest target on you...but to sit there and continue to be the media's monkey and target one guy? Odd.
I also see a big difference between Giambi having a few good years from roids and Bonds using it to break the all time home run record. Giambi didn't really take anything I care about. I care about Hank Aarons record. They are radically different situations that are going to get very different responses.
Hogwash. It's a witch hunt, pure and simple.
<< <i>So because one man is more successful he's the only one to bear the burden of an entire generation of players? Because Bonds has no manners off the field that gives us the right to crucify him?

Why do you ignore the fact that we all hated him before and for other reasons. Roids or not I hate that he has this record.
No it's not a free pass for Giambi, it's just not the same situation. Thus it is possible for there to be a diffrence in reaction and not have a witch hunt.

So because he's not a nice guy off the field you hate him? Exactly what does he owe you as a fan? Isn't his going out there and busting his hump every single day enough? There have been plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of players in all sports who were grade-A jerks off the field - but somehow Barry is the only one who gets crushed for it?
<< <i>No it's not a free pass for Giambi, it's just not the same situation. Thus it is possible for there to be a diffrence in reaction and not have a witch hunt. >>
How is it not the same situation? Shouldn't a guy who admitted in a court of law to cheating be banned for life from baseball? Why is a guy like Giambi allowed to play again? His cheating directly affected the outcome of games! But because he didn't approach the most hallowed record in all of sports, no one cares?
Also "hate" is an exaggeration. I don't really hate many people. That's something you have to earn though more important things than sports.
No one owes me anything. I never said they did. Please don't act like I did.
If you think Giambi and Bonds are in the same situation then I can't help you understand.
Plain and simple, it boils down to the fact that he's an easy target for the sports media to point the finger at and place the blame of the steroids era. It gets them off the hook for not being proactive and asking why guys started hitting 50, 60, 70 HRs, they were too busy getting caught up in the moment and using it to get people watching baseball. The owners and commissioner were in the same boat.
Now, as it becomes apparent the entire era is tainted by performance enhancing drugs, the media needs an easy target to place blame and they've focused all their energies on Bonds.
If you can't see that, I don't know what else I can say that will help you.
<< <i> Now, as it becomes apparent the entire era is tainted by performance enhancing drugs, the media needs an easy target to place blame and they've focused all their energies on Bonds. >>
I kind of agree with this. I just think you're not seeing all the things that made him a target. Also, where are they going to look? How about the Jerk breaking the record. We'd all be watching these at bats anyway. So while we're watching, let's talk about why we are here.
I also think the HOF vote for Big Mac was telling too. His accomplishments are seen as tainted as well or he'd already be in.
anyway, there's a great thread on wrestling cards from my youth. I'm going over there.
On the subject of what he owes us as fans.....he owes his career! No fans, no baseball, no Bonds!! Personally, I think the guy is a dick, but that's just me! I don't care for people with attitudes and chips on their shoulders.
He's going to break the HR record, but at the same time nobody is going to care about the record anymore. It's now been tainted and meaningless. Put his bust in the Hall of Shame next to Pete!
<< <i>I am not a Giambi lover either but I give him credit for at least telling the truth under oath. Supposedly Giambi is coming back in a few weeks. If I had my druthers I would rather have him not. Why mess with the great chemistry the Yankees have? Giambi will not be a Yankee next year. I do not believe that the Yankees will exercise the option in his contract. >>
If the douchebag Giambi hadn't been on roids, Frank Thomas would have EASILY won the AL MVP in 2000.
I do hate Giambi.
Who has tested (+)

The only reason its not the same thing as Giambi, or more than half of the other players in MLB who cheated is plain and simple... Bonds is just flat out a much better baseball player than the rest of them.
<< <i>The best line of this whole thread was about Barry going out there and busting his hump every day!!! HAAAAAAAAAA Going up to the plate, watching balls get thrown past him, then walking down to first base. Swinging for the fence and then a slow trot around the bases. Then he takes days off, because he's too tired from playing the night before. That really sounds like he's busting his hump. Ripken plays in over 2,000 straight games and Bonds can't even play in ten before he needs a long rest. >>
Yes, Bonds takes days off...but then, SO DOES EVERY OTHER MAJOR LEAGUER. So because he's getting walked at record levels that somehow lessens the effort he has to put into the game? And ripken? hah, you want to go there. You honestly think that Ripken got through every one of those games without some sort of medicinal help? Is it coincidence that his voice has never been heard in the critiquing of the steroid era? Hmm?
<< <i>On the subject of what he owes us as fans.....he owes his career! No fans, no baseball, no Bonds!! Personally, I think the guy is a dick, but that's just me! I don't care for people with attitudes and chips on their shoulders. >>
No he doesn't. He doesn't you a thing. He owes you to go out there and kill himself on the field, but if he wants to be a jerk off of it, never sign autographs, that's his right. He doesn't you anything at all.
<< <i>He's going to break the HR record, but at the same time nobody is going to care about the record anymore. It's now been tainted and meaningless. Put his bust in the Hall of Shame next to Pete! >>
Nobody's going to care about the record anymore? I think you are giving you and the anti-Bonds minority too much voice. There are plenty, plenty of people who will care, and who will cheer. The media portrays it as the average fan hating what Bonds has done when in fact its quite the opposite. The average fan couldn't care less if Bonds was out there injecting himself in the on-deck circle. They love home runs, and they don't care how they get hit.
<< <i>Where are the bobble heads of the countless other players who juiced?

Stitzen, i think the only explantion of you recent posts is that YOU ARE BARRY BONDZ!
BONDS BONDS...he is BAROID BONDZ...here amoung us, right next to Gary...
That is not really 100% correct, although list members like to say that.
Two days after the hearing, The San Francisco Chronicle published articles based on transcripts of grand jury testimony by Bonds, of the San Francisco Giants, and the New York Yankees' Jason Giambi. Giambi said he took steroids supplied by Anderson; Bonds described using similar-looking substances obtained from his trainer but said he thought they were flaxseed oil and arthritis cream.

In addition, The Chronicle has reported that in a secretly recorded conversation, Anderson said Bonds had used an "undetectable" performance-enhancing drug during the 2003 season"
During the three-hour proceeding, two prosecutors presented Bonds with documents that allegedly detailed his use of a long list of drugs: human growth hormone, Depo-Testosterone, undetectable steroids known as "the cream" and "the clear," insulin and Clomid, a drug for female infertility sometimes used to enhance the effect of testosterone.
The documents, many with Bonds' name on them, are dated from 2001 through 2003. They include a laboratory test result that could reflect steroid use and what appeared to be schedules of drug use with billing information, prosecutors told the grand jury."
That includes the players Bonds was playing with....and playing against. Like it not, that was baseball....and I hope it has cleared up, rather then finding out later players found another Balco....which was suppose to have been undetectable.

To be fair and honest, the case should have been thrown out. Unless you believe Bonds leaked the testimony, then it likely came from a government source.
It is not just Bonds that should be honest and clean, but ALL of baseball....and in this case, the government as well.
