Congrats to him and just think in 5 or 6 more years we may be seeing him knocking Bonds off the top.

i cant wait, barring no injuries like griffey, cross fingers!( he would have already been at leat 100 closer to bonds now,but there was a couple of years there he was always hurt, was out all season that one year)a-rod will be youngest to 600- then 700-hes 1 year younger than my son!!!!awesome player, hen just needs to get over this 500 hump, im sure its working on his mind, same as bods trying to get 755, they are swinging for homers, not singles!

It's great to see A-Rod hit the milestone. It is terrible that both Griffey and Frank Thomas have suffered so many injuries. Both men played ball the right way and both have had tons of HR hitting time knocked off of their careers due to injuries. Frank says he wants 600, we will see what he does next year. But at 503(?) it's slowing down a lot. He's picked up pace before though.

Good for A-Rod. If he stays healthy the rest of the way to 40 ......800+ homers?
With all the talk of Bonds, I look at Griffey and how he lost the equivalent of 5 years
due to injuries.....let's say on the avg. of 40 homers per year, that's another 200 missed.
Bonds would be chasing Griffey right now.....bummer.

I'm a big Griffey fan, and no doubt that he's lost a lot of time due to injury, but if you look at the numbersw he's actually only missed about the equivalent of 2 full seasons, not 5.

    Yea Maaaaaaan !
I just wish I was the one A-Rod wanted to negotiate with about getting that 500th Hr ball back from . . .

I'd say , Lifetime behind home plate tix at the New Yankee Stadium and 2 Mil in CASH !

What ? No deal ? OK, Time to go play some catch in the back yard with the dog . . .

    Seeeeee ya !

I think what I was basing it on was that he never played 162 game (161 was his most played). Taking the difference
per season from 162 possible, he's missed about 590 games, including some from Seattle....okay so that's 3.64 seasons
image ......so about another 140 homers missed which puts him at 720+
