My email to a Sportlots.com seller....

Thought some of you might find this amusing:

"Wow, Saran Wrap? Do you really think that's an appropriate way to send cards? Really? You think I took time out of my day to go onto Sportlots and pick out cards that I need because I want cards with crushed corners?

The wierd thing is I got another package from you with cards in actual protective sleeves, so it's not like you don't know any better. What, do you send every third order out in Saran Wrap? I'm just bewildered.

Lee"

The guy's sportlots name is aivp@aol.com in case you were ever tempted to buy anything from him.

Sportlots.com are interesting. I have gotten some very professional packages, and then I have also gotten the saran wrap or paper towel, or 25 cards smashed between two old toploaders.

same here. it's hit and miss. the many cards smashed into a single top loader pissed me off the worst.

I ordered about $250 worth of stuff from about 50 different sellers and got a variety of packaging. It appears that there's some kind of contest running to see who can jam the most cards into a single little card saver.

Lee, I expressed my feelings to you on this already. It is hit or miss with some sellers. Some guys call things NM that aren't VG-Ex and I've gotten other things that were eventually PSA 10's. The sellers are hit or miss, the packaging is hit or miss. I usually buy several of something just because I know I'll likely get half or more in ungradeable condition. A lot of stuff I buy with the expectation that most is going to be garbage. I can usually backfill my sets that I've pillaged and other stuff I toss in the trash. I've never gotten saran wrap though and I've bought from that seller before. If I remember correctly, he is one that sends some pretty off condition stuff and I stopped buying from him. I'd have to check my lists.

Not a Sportslot deal, but on a related note, I collect oddball Walter Payton items and found a piece on eBay that the seller took great care to mention was still in the FLAWLESS original packaging. Yet, when he shipped it, he just threw it in a plan manilla envelope, and suffice to say the packaging is no longer close to being flawless. I have also received a number of autographed mini helmets, including a $500+ Sweetness one, just thrown in a priority box with NO protection. It is just amazing what some sellers thinks constitutes adequate packing.
