Why do sellers do this? (Part Sixteen)

Why do (some) sellers make you go through their own tedious, frustrating "Checkout" procedure, when, nine times out of ten, you are eventually directed to your Paypal account, which is where you were trying to go to in the first place to pay the bill!

What is the purpose of this waste of time? Somebody please enlighten me.

Help!

I am also not a fan of this. It happens to me about every 25-30 purchases. It drives me crazy

  • Those programs are not popular with buyers. They are tedious and a pain in the **s to wade through. Unfortunately for the buyer, the high volune sellers do see a benift. They are able to better manage their inventory and business with them. I would never use them as a seller. Creating hassles for buyers is never a wise move in the long run.
  • You hit the nail on the head. I despise seller checkouts.

I just started using Auctiva, which has a checkout feature. Personally, I love it. When you have 100+ auctions ending at one time it makes it so much easier to manage. I don't like them as a buyer but I have to admit, they are nifty as a seller. You don't have to use the checkout as a buyer if you don't want to. At least with the Auctiva one I use, you don't have to.

I never use a seller's checkout system. On the very top there is a gray button on the listing that says "Pay Now". I always use that button and it always takes me right to paypal. I even won on sellers that say in their listing "please use our checkout to pay" I never do and still get the item and no problems. Not to mention seller really dont need you to go thru all that because they still use paypal to get all your address.

The best thing to do with those silly checkouts is to ignore them image

Where is that "Pay Now" button, twiley? Is it on the listing? Or is it on the invoice that gets emailed?

    SOM,
It's on the eBay listing after you've won.

Oh, yeah...I know that button. But - the sellers have trumped ebay. Clicking on that button sometimes takes you to their checkout site.
