Adam Jones Gets the Call - Finally!

Was announced late last night after the M's dramatic 12th inning win over the Angels, but stud outfielder Adam Jones will be called up Friday. Hopefully this means Jose "I can't buy an extra basehit" Vidro will take a seat, Raul Ibanez will take his steadily declining defensive skills to DH, and Jones will assume his rightful place in left field. This is a huge, huge upgrade for the M's both offensively and defensively. Jones has been torching AAA hitting all year, and would have been up weeks ago if Hargrove hadn't resigned, and McLaren needed a month to get the team's trust as manager.

Little used Jason Ellison is being jettisoned to make room for Jones, the best hitting prospect to come along in a long, long time. If you're in a fantasy baseball league and need a strong outfield bat, and he isn't already picked up, get him NOW.

I think Adam Jones is worth Justin Morneau and Johan Santana in trade value.
  • when you heard the news did you immediately grab a box of kleenex and head to the bathroom to pleasure yourself?

Seattle must be getting sweaty if there season is hanging on a 22 year old, who has had 74 big league at bats, with a .216 avgerage and 1 home run.

Not saying the kid hasn't been impressive in the minors, but benching an established major leaguer who's hitting 300 for a minor leaguer is a ballsy move.

  • They should be benching a DH who has hit for absolutely no power this year (less than .380 slugging is unacceptable) and moving Ibanez to the DH slot.

The season isn't 'hanging' on Jones, but he's a significant upgrade in LF over Ibanez.

He'll probably be a late inning replacement to start with some spot starts and AB's

I'm an Angels fan so I can't give you my "best of Luck" line. Wife is from Seattle and my father in law is a HUGE fan and has nothing but good things to say about AJ
