Another deadbeat buyer

Just had yet another deadbeat buyer of some 1980's PSA cards I auctioned on ebay. What is it with deadbeats on 1980's cards? Every single problem transaction I've had has been on newer cards.
This buyer won two items totaling $240 on July 12th. He didn't respond to the ebay invoice I sent him. I don't send payment reminders either. I shouldn't have to, the guy has over 2000 positives so he knows the ebay drill. I waited 16 days for his payment. When it didn't show up I filed the non-paying bidder alerts on him. Of course he responds to that within hours and says he's been at the hospital with his sick brother the past two days. So that's his reason for not paying me: his brother had surgery and he's upset about it. He didn't elaborate on what the surgery was about. His brother isn't part of this transaction so I don't see how his condition is of any consequence to our deal.
So what happened during the 14 days from when he won the items from me and when he's been at his sick brothers bedside? He won won and paid for at least five other auction wins after mine as evidenced by his feedback received from other sellers. He also sold numerous cards on ebay that totaled well over $500 and ended on July 19th, so he obviously wasn't too upset at that time to mail out his auctions and pay for these other items in a timely manner. He also has more than enough funds to complete our deal judging by the amount of his sales.
He even tells me he has a laptop at his brothers bedside. I'm thinking, why doesn't he just log onto paypal and pay me. It would take one minute to take care of this and we would be done.
My NPBA ends on Saturday, at which time I'll be getting my fee's back and this clown will have two strikes against his ebay account. I think you get booted or suspended at 4 or 5 of those. Why bid if you're not going to honor your word? Using his sick brother as an excuse is really low in my opinion. That's not a valid excuse for blowing off your obligations in my opinion.
The fact is, the cards I sold him were on consignment to me. The consignor is a close friend who in just the last week was diagnosed with having a brain tumor. He's only 45 and has a wife and two kids. He's now in the process of going thru a lot of different tests, MRI's, etc... he's going to have a biopsy done on Friday. So what does this deadbeat want me to tell the consignor about his reneging on his cards? I'm sure whatever I tell him will uplift his spirits about people.
I'm the kind of seller that if he told me right after the auctions ended that he couldn't complete the deals, I would have gladly let him off the hook and we could've mutually agreed to not complete the auctions. Instead he ignores my invoice, doesn't communicate for over two weeks, sells other items, buys other items, and blows off his obligation on our deal.
For those other sellers who care, his ebay id is: bosoxr1 .
He's now added to my ever growing list of blocked deadbeats.
Sorry for the long vent..........

My eBay Store
BigCrumbs! I made over $250 last year!
As far as the no internet thing goes most of the country still does not have access. Mink, Louisiana finally got their first telephone in 2005.
I added up his buying amounts from July 12th (the day he won two cards from me) and July 26th. He bought over $850 worth of cards. He sold over $2000 during that timeframe. So he has the funds to pay me and just won't.
So the excuses were my brother is sick and now the buyer is sharing an ebay account with a buddy. They won't be buddies too much longer after he gets the two non-paying bidder strikes on his account by Sunday.
He just doesn't want to pay for the two cards he won from me.
I don't think he overpaid for them, so he could pay me then go relist them and probably not lose a dime. They're Bonds cards, go figure.
I shouldn't even be listing his cards out of principle but like I stated in my first post they're on consignment and I'm trying to help out a friend who's too busy to sell them himself.
And I agree Leiascards, I usually have the same problem with buyers on cheaper cards. On expensive cards, it's never an issue.
