Great use of the qualifiers.
I do have a question though: I was having trouble using the '*' more than once in a single eBay search.
i.e. trying to find 1500s or 1600s gold doesn't work. 'gold (15*,16*)'
Any help with the correct search qualifiers..?

If you want to search for coins of a certain century, you need two asterisks.
Try "gold (15**, 16**)" <--remove quotes
