Matt, it could have been worse, you could have actually stabbed Emmitt with a steak knife.....which after a few pain pills today is what I read the first time.
<< <i>What is your worst butter knife story...highest valued card ruined trying to crack a slab? Thankfully mine is only a '78 Stallworth 8. >>
My best story is...
My husband was opening a 1993 UD Future Hereos Brett Favre #44 card for me, and successfully sliced his thumb which required 10 stitches to close. Yeah, you read that right. 10 stitches with a butter knife. Somehow, no one believes us when we tell the story. He does have the scar to prove it. The bad news from the whole thing was that the card wasn't worth being graded, and the clinic didn't open for anotehr 15 minutes.
He no longer uses a butter knife to open PSA slabs. He nicks a top corner off with a Dremel and uses a flat screwdriver.
Used a flathead screwdriver on a '66 Phily FB Rudy Bukich SGC 88 slab, trying to crack it to re-submit raw to PSA. Messed up and gouged the heck out of the cards' surface. Was drinking too much coffee when I attempted it and got too agressive.
Now the card is sitting raw in my discount bin that I take to the card shows. About a $15 loss. Not that bad a loss considering it could've been a more expensive card.
does it have to be card related? at a BBQ last week, my friend was prying apart frozen hamburgers... i told him USE A DULL KNIFE... (such as a butter knife) INSTEAD he used a 10 inch butcher knife. slipped, woops! there goes a fingertip! needless to say it was a bloody mess and he spent the day at the E.R.

#LetsGoSwitzerlandThe Man Who Does Not Read Has No Advantage Over the Man Who Cannot Read. The biggest obstacle to progress is a habit of “buying what we want and begging for what we need.”You get the Freedom you fight for and get the Oppression you deserve.
