There are still good people on Ebay

I bought a 1963 topps graded psa8 hodges card on July the 4th. I sent the paypal payment the next day, but did not purchase insurance. I have not yet received the card and contacted the seller. The seller with no questions asked, refunded me and more than went out of his way to "make this deal" right. I was reading a post a few weeks back where this was an issue, and there seemed to be some bad blood. This was not the case with me by any means. The seller went by the Ebay name crashtestalex. If any of you have dealings with him, he is a straight up dude. I hope every one I deal with on Ebay is as straight up and pleasant as him.

Ebay has been very consistant about protecting their cash flow, even if it means keeping on really unethical sellers. I love hearing about how good sellers show themselfs to be just that. Anyone can look good when everything goes well. Its when there pops up problems, then you find out who the scum are. Some people talk about resolving problems , others actually do it.

I was involved in a problem situation that others followed for a number of weeks. It can be found here on this board under "sellers advise ". The card was lost. What was posted here on this board and what was emailed behind told me much about this sellers upbringing, his ethics and most of all his care. They all added up to a little above zero. To him there was something wrong with wondering where the card was, and questioning why it took 15 days to mail out the card. He then posted a question here. When I responded back, here on these boards, he went nuts , behind the scenes. I had sent payment. It was received, but not posted until a week later. It was a postal check, that should've been cashed right there. A week later the card was mailed out, 15 days after payment. It got lost. I hopefully laid out my position, to him and here on these boards. I never once asked him for a refund or anything else. As a result of his emails , I NEGed him. I still do not have the card. He has my $50 dollars. He also has his 1st negitive. In my book, and many others, terrible service and terrible attitudes, led to crappy feedback. Of course he neged me back, but what else would a loser do. He couldn't do the right thing from the beggining, simply read the thread.

I recently had another seller, that their shipment came up missing as well. They gave me a positive for doing my part as a buyer. They bend over backwards to try to find their lost shipment. Even offered a refund. I thanked them for their efforts, and told them they were off the hook. They had done their part.

I'm glad for you about this seller. I've bought from them as well and they had great service to me too. There are some good people on Ebay, but its getting thinner.--Sonny

"crashtestalex" is an excellent seller. However, just for your information, anytime you pay with Paypal and you don't receive the card, you are covered by Paypal provided you file a claim within 30 days of when your payment was made. If the seller used delivery confirmation, then Paypal takes the hit. If the seller does not use delivery confirmation, then the seller takes the hit.
  • Crashtestalex is one of Ebay's better sellers. He used to only sell SGC graded cards, but has opened up and started offering some PSa cards. Good dealer, with a great eye for grading.
