To save wear and tear on the players, "You only have so many hits in you during a season." says Falcons linebacker Keith Brooking.
Many coaches also believe that players show up in better shape for training camp than in the past due to year round training and
mandatory offseason sessions.
To preserve players, coaches typically will have one practice with little contact on days with double sessions. It's also common for
teams to have walk-through sessions with no contact and practices exclusively for special teams.
Team with the most two a days: San Franciso with 13
Team with the fewest two a days: Buffalo with 3

Agreed. Too many preseason games.
<< <i>The owners will never reduce the preseason games, as those are pure profit for the teams. >>
Yep, sort of like baseball refusing to cut back a little bit on that tiresome 162 game schedule and starting the post season at a more reasonable time.

All players, for the most part, get paid minimal salary and a per diem during the preseason.
On the other hand, the tickets are full price and if you have season tickets, you are forced to purchase all preseason games. Compound that with full priced food/beverages/souvenirs/parking, and it's an economic boom to the owners.
Unless the players' union can convince the owners to cut back preseason games by taking less of something, it will not happen.
The only way I see it being a possibility is if there continues to be a rash of injuries to star players.
3 or 4 in one year and the Commish may step in, IMO.
<< <i>Bucs fans like the preseason games. With the other teams not caring about these games, it's a chance for the Bucs to actually win a few games. >>
