"Playing in a $530 Sunday Million tournament on Poker stars. "
I'm guessing the $30 is the house entry fee, which equals about a 6% house cut of the pot. With at least 1873 registered players that's an automatic profit of at least $56,190 for the house. Must be nice to be the house.
Just imagine how much money harrahhs takes in for the WSOP and wpt etc... >>
I didn't see the WSOP main event house cut for this year, but last year it was 6%. Barry Greenstein and others who know poker have publicly stated that most of the "pros" seen on TV poker shows are broke. Sponsors or backers usually front them the tournament buy-in money. Entering too many tournaments with those 6% and higher cuts of each pot eventually grinds out the tournament players' bankrolls, which is exactly why these poker "pros" seen on TV are broke.
Online sites make much more on poker than any casino. Party Poker was a $8 billion company before they cut off American players. Pokerstars probably makes close to a million per day on tourneys alone if you include satellites and sit n go's.
