Can one of you Ebay gurus tell me if it's against Ebay policy to end auctions early with or w/o bids. Also, how do you end the auction? I can't find it anywhere.

They discourage it but its not against the rules

go to your "my ebay" page click on selling resources and look under managing your items.

...On the record....ebay discourages the practice of ending auctions early in accordance with the commanders directive.....off the record....ebay thinks its an invaluable tool, and if it happens to go on without their knowing ,so be it.

For some reason all I could think of when I read Matts first reply is Colonel Jesup on the witness stand speaking of code reds.

I see nothing wrong with bringing down an auction if it has zero bids.

You can do it with or without bids. However if it has bids and less than 12 hours to go the only way to end it is sell to the high bidder at that time. You can still cancel bids at that time but you will just reduce the price by doing so. This was because many sellers were using the method of canceling auctions at the last minute as a way to conduct reserve price auctions without putting a reserve on the item.

I have had several sellers do this to me in the past it always resulted in me adding them to my do not buy from list.

go to help and type in end auction early, it wil pop right up,hit link , then just put in item # and its off,its easy to do- i do it to stuff im sick of running
