2 1983 Topps baseball grocery rack packs- 9.00 each

1984 topps baseball vending box- 20.00 just for fun unless I pull a blazer but 1984 was my first cards I collected as a 7 year old.

5 1985 Fleer baseball wax packs 4.00 each

1985 Topps baseball rack pack 9.00

1986 Topps baseball baseball wax box( again a childhood favorite)

I want to at least pull a decent RICE(PSA 8 or bettter) I want to put a raw set of 85 football together from scratch and hopefully have a few I can send in to PSA to recoup a few bucks.

Any info on low pop 85 and 86 football would be awesome.

The rest is for fun guys! I ordered about 5 minutes ago and will let you know when it arrives!

CD- I agree 100% with you because you guys have so much more experience than I do but I saw the vending boxes and they are pristine and for MONTHS I have thought I needed to buy one so I am hoping it is my guardiam angel was leading me to the RICE PSA 9!

I sure hope I do CD and I will keep you posted and try to buy a variety so I would at least have the chance to pull a few PSA 10 quality cards

I bought a 86 Football vending box from Steve last year and got two Rice 8's from it.
As well as a lot of other nice rookies. Dont expect miracles from vending, Good Luck !

always respected your thoughts on unopened material and believe if I get TWO rice 8's I will be thrilled! I just hope to get some HOF 9's in there too.

We will see(was your box from this same case?)

what was the condition of the box itself? What made them 8's? Corners or centering?

I dont know if the box i got came from the same case or not, It was supposed to be a case fresh box.
The box itself was near mint. best I remember, I think the edges kept most of the cards I pulled from being graded any higher.
The green bordered cards in those flimsy vending boxes make the 86 chip easily.

The problem with the vending boxes is that the blue boxes are so thin, they really ovver no protection for the corners and edges, which becomes especially problematic on years where the edges and corners are succeptible to chipping (85 and 86 FB for example). I opened a clean vending case of 85 Topps baseball in 2005 and these were the results I posted:

"- 1985 topps vending case- 12 McGwires (1 for me, 10 gradeable- mostly 8s and a few 9s), 15 Clemens (1 for me, 14 gradeable- mostly 9s with 2 possible 10s), 11 Pucketts (1 for me, 3 ungradeable, 7 probable 9s). Yuck- a case is supposed to avg. 15 of each card. If I can get $1100 of the $1360 I spent I'll be happy. I'm beginning to not like vending boxes so much."

The grading results were that I got 5 PSA 10s of stars or semis (commons were not submitted) out of the entire case of 20 boxes. That's 1 PSA 10 out of every 4 boxes in an clean sealed case. Not so great. I did pull a slew of 9s, including some Clemenses and McGwireses, so hoping for a Rice or Young 9 isn't unreasonable. Let us know how you do.

I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
