Cello's and racks from BBXchange

Just wondering if the boxes of racks and cellos that Steve sells (listed from full cases) are truly "unsearched" until they arrive to the customer. Not talking about resealing, but going through the boxes, pulling the packs with RCs and HOF'ers showing, and replacing those packs to make a full box. Anyone ever get packs with RCs or HOF'ers on top/bottom from Steve?

Well, I've never bought any unopened packs from him, but I've had nothing but great experiences with Steve (the owner). In fact, he's the only dealer I know of that will actually replace a factory set if you open it and it turns out to be a bust (any other dealer will tell you too bad if you break the seal). And the rest of the congregation here thinks quite highly of him too. So by all means go for it.

shoot him an email and ask him. i noticed he has one rack box "with stars" so i would assume this is a handmade box with stars on the racks.

yes, i have received racks with stars on top. i purchased some 82t football racks a few months back and had one with a montana 2nd year on top.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

there are very few people who I would buy any unopened from sight unseen. steve is one of them. if he says they are from a case , they are from a case. he does have stuff with stars showing listed as he buys from many sources. he does buy a lot of cases and it is obviously in his best interest to open the case and sell the box without pulling items. I have not bought racks from him , but I have bought cellos and wax which had stars showing on the back.

one thing to keep in mind if you are planning to hit a goldmine with a rack box full of stars. the probability of having a particular card showing from a 70's 24 ct box is 7% . the odds of getting a box full of stars is very low. ebay would make you think otherwise since there are so many but keep in mind that the star packs were usually saved when the rest was opened over the last 20-25 years. that is why it is pretty easy to to find star packs

Thanks guys. I know Steve is the best. Not hoping to get a box loaded with them, just wondering if there is a legit chance.
  • One thing to remember about racks and cellos, back in the late 80s and early 90s there were lists floating around that would tell you every card in the packs based on on the cards that were shown. Not saying Steve uses them, but if he buys unopened racks from others and the boxes have been opened this is a distinct possibility.

IMO--Steve would rather sell you a rack with a star on top rather than keep it and try to sell it for a few bucks more.

I bought a 1975 Topps football rack box and several stars were showing on the racks.
  • I bought a 1985 rack case and I pulled a couple of racks with clemens, puckett, mcgwire showing (not all in the same pack of course). No doubt in my mind that it was an unsearched case.

Steve's a stupid name. I can't believe you'd do that. I named my first born Hart. image

Steve gave my grandfather Alzheimer's and my grandmother AIDS then cured them both -- just 'cuz he could.

And he tossed in a free rack pack of 1987 Fleer.
