Just got a pick up truck full of sports cards for....

FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I was visiting w/ a friend of mine and one of our old friends came by to say hey and asked me if I wanted some sports cards. Basically told me if I didnt take them he was going to burn em in his fire pit. Me being the card addict I am with collecting said sure i will take them. Well he backed up his pickup truck to mine and his bed was filled with 600-800 count boxes full of Baseball, Football, Hockey, and Racing(Nascar) cards!!!

I was looking threw some of the boxes as I was unloading them into my climate controlled storage unit. I saw 1993 UD SP set complet as well as a complete 94 SP Die cut complete set image 95% the cards I looked at seemed to be in Mint condition even the Jeter and Arod SP rookies were sharp image There also was a whole 800 count box filled with the 93 topps finest inside was nolan ryan and barry bonds refractors just to name the big cards I saw!!! I didnt have time to look thru all of it since there was soooo much. I have no idea on football and hockey and nascar but I know the baseball stuff. I will figure that all out and sub anything that is worth anything. I have a ton to grade now!!! WAHOO what a score!!!! I am totally pysched to go thru all the cards and send the nice ones in for grading!!! I am super stoked!!!!

I used to hear stories of stuff like this happening to people and never really believed it happens or even could happen to me. Now I know it can happen imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

    >>Keep me in mind to dump you football cards to.

Will do. fwiw the football cards are mostly modern 1989 thru 1995. UD, SP, Topps, Score, etc etc. No clue if there is anything worth anything in those years...

The hockey I really didnt pay attention to the years I did see 93-94 UD hockey complete set not sure if that has anything in it. To lazy to look at SMR image Racing (nascar) is 1990 thru 1996. Found a Jeff Gordon 91 Pro Set rookie card. Not sure how much that is worth? Bunch of 1994 action packed gold Richard Petty and gold Dale Earnhart Sr. cards. When I get a free weekend I will bring my beckett mag with me and search thru them... I have a feeling I will be looking thru this huge pile for the next couple of months...

Edit add: Oh and theres a bunch of basketball in there too. No 86 fleer though image

ok I will definately let you know what I find and plan on getting rid of. The collection came my friend's brother who passed away. My friend who stopped by to say hey doesnt care for sports or sports cards. Like I said the cards were on the way to get burned in a fire pit. So I sorta rescued them. LOL! I personally dont collect basketball, football, hockey, or nascar. I only collect baseball. There will be sets, graded and raw singles I wont want because some boxes were labeled for example "1993 Pinnacle series 1+2 Dups."

I did grab a box to take home just to see what kind of shape they were in. It happen to be a nascar box but I was more looking at condition of something I grabbed at random.

Here is a scan of the Pro Set Jeff Gordon Rookie I mentioned.

He has to know if he has thousands of PSA cards what they are worth. You cant buy a PSA pre 1970s card for less than 5.00 and if he has 1000 of them then you know hes going to want 1000.00sssssss for them.
  • rube26105rube26105 Posts: 10,225 ✭✭
nope,he has no idea-i have thousands to pay for them after i look at them good, im not buying anything sight unseen lol-the were his brothers who died recently- this guy knows nothing about graded cards because i asked him and he looked at me like he didnt know what i was talking about, i got 15 58 topps psa graded ones off of him for 2.00 each,so he dont know,he just saw my add in the bulletin board,he just brought one box, asked him how many cards he had in the hard plastic and he said thousands he thought,so i went to look, and damned if there wasnt,i was impressed
