What is considered to be the Key date for Regular strike Franklin Halfs? I don't collect this particular coin but am just getting interested in it.
thanks in advance

Al, that is a VERY wide ranging question. What exactly are you looking to collect; FBL, brilliant, toned?

Truth be told, there is no key date if you want to collect them in MS 64 and don't care about FBL. The '53-S is actually a very common coin, it is only the key date in FBL.

Some coins are more common in brilliant condition, while others are more common in toned condition. Do you have an idea of what you would prefer to collect?

Actually I am considering putting together a Key date collection, Just something I have thought about for awhile, I am just finishing a Morgan date collection and am thinking about starting a key date regular strike collection. I am on a budget so I wil get the best grade I can afford. The Morgan set was all PCGS however this one won't be.
