Should Listen to my head!

Like most of you who have done Ebay for some time, one gets a good sense of when something doesn't feel quite right. I bid on a fairly common but very nice 1978 Nolan Ryan Record Breaker PSA 9 card last month. I normally only bid on 1950's thru early 1970's cards but this one was really nice and I won it for $8. The seller had four negatives among about 150 feedbacks but only one in the last six months. He sold many things besides sports cards. Didn't accept Paypal. But I bid low anyway and ended up winning the card. Sent in my check and it cleared my bank within a week. No card. Sent an email to the seller, no response, sent a second email, no response. Fortunately, this is not a big ticket item, but I hate losing $ to bad sellers. I have had over 3000 Ebay transactions and can count on one hand the negative experiences I have had on Ebay. Thanks to this guy, I now have to start counting on my other hand. Lesson learned, listen to one's self when you think there might be a problem!

Go to the very bottom of the page of the auction you won and click on "Security Center".

The first option that comes up is this:
Item Not Received - You didn't receive your item, or you received an item that was different than described.

Highlight that and hit "Report Problem". 9 times out of 10, the seller will get back to you almost immediately, apologizing for the mishap and arrange for shipment. I don't know what it is - I think ebay sends a message to the seller with thinly-veiled allusions to kneecaps and guys named Guido with aluminum bats.

Unless I've done business with or see a seller with at least 99% FB, I'll never bid if he doesn't take Paypal.

File a complaint with ebay and leave him a NEG!

Sent the "item not received" information to Ebay through their Security Center as Mark suggested. Haven't heard back yet but the complaint has been officially logged with Ebay. I'll let you know if anything happens. Ebay item #250132742684.

I suggest doing whatever you are going to do (going through ebay or hiring a mobster to take care of the issue or whatever you choose), that you do so quickly. As I mentioned in a posting a month or so ago, I took too long to file a complaint on an $11 dollar transaction, and am out of luck. both with my credit card company and with ebay.

and give the guy a negative. it disappoints me when there are some crazies out there who screw over people (and I am not assuming that this one seller did this, because the item may be in the mail, etc.) but the public does not know about these crazies, because there are no negative feedbacks. so help out the community and warn others if warranted.

This guy lives in my backyard. First thing I did was check to see if he's got anything else going right now. Nothing. It is summertime. He may have just gone on vacation; I'd get his phone number if I were you.

Well, followed the eBay dispute resolution procedures but the guy never responded. So I went to give him a negative and eBay wouldn't let me because he is no longer a registered user. Apparently he was kicked off or he terminated his eBay account. I'm a little upset that after following the eBay suggestions for solving the dispute, and the guy doesn't cooperate, that I can't leave him a negative.

You don't have to worry, he is no longer a registered user. At least not under the name he sold this Ryan card - Seller: the.black.rabbit (76) Not a registered user Feedback: 96.3% Positive

<< <i>the guy doesn't cooperate, that I can't leave him a negative.[/qBut think on the bright side, he can't slam you with a neg either. Not that that's any consolation, but he will only get your 10 bucks or so.
