Sheets vs semi-rigids for set building?

Hello All,

I've decided that I'd like to start building a 1974 Topps Football raw set and was curious as to how most of you stored your raw cards. I've always used ultrapro semi-rigid holders for individual card storage but it seems as if it would be more enjoyable to place the cards in a 9 pocket sheet. I've been told that there is a possibility of damaging cards if you use sheets but I'm thinking that I'll be the only one handling the cards so I should be safe. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I don't like the sheets because I fear the damage. I just put everything in CS and store in whatever I can. I actually could use some advice on the best way to store the CS. I use the old MJ Roop boxes, but there are not available any longer.

I don't have a choice but to use pages. Of course, I keep the key cards in mini-tites. So if you really are that concerned about damage, just put all cards that book for over say, $10 or $20 in your top loaders or mini-tites or whatever and use the pages for the rest of the set. The best way to prevent damage in sheets:

*Use only Ultra-Pro or BCW pages, and of course stay away from vinyl (if that even exists anymore)
*I STRONGLY recommend only putting nine cards in a page, not eighteen; this not only prevents corner "pinching" but I think it's better to be able to see both sides w/o taking the cards out.
*Be especially careful not to overstuff the binders. A three inch D-binder can hold about 750-800 cards comfortably.
*Carefully stack all binders flat (I do no more than four in a stack)
*And above all else, enjoy the cards in the binder (especially if it happens to be a set). It is a LOT more fun looking through the cards in a binder/pages than having to handle individual top loaders or PSA holders.

Also, pages are much cheaper too. Go to mattsbaseballcards.com and call him to order a case of 1000 BCW pages for $92 shipped (it may be a little more or less depending on where you live). They're just as good if not better than Ultra-Pro pages.
