Is there a magic number of yards rushing in a career to be a lock for the hall of fame?

i was just wondering....500 for baseball (maybe), 3000 hits, etc in baseball...anything like that in football??? 15000 yards maybe?

not quite that high....10,000 gives you a pretty good shot, 12,000 is a virtual lock, I would say.

Yeah, I have been curious about that too if there are magic numbers that pretty much guarantee HOF admission in football and basketball like there are in baseball. I just wish 3000 strikeouts (pitching) was taken just as seriously as 3000 hits in batting in HOF terms.

12,000 is probably a pretty good mark. 10,000 is recognized as a very nice accomplishment, but Ottis Anderson and Ricky Watters are both over that mark, and neither player is in the HOF.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Fred Taylor is close to 10,000 yds.image I've been lucky enough to watch most of em. He's done it very very quietly too.
