AWSOME action taken on player sets! Thanks PSA

"Dear Set Registry Member,
I am contacting you because you have a Basic modern player baseball set (play years post 1971) registered. For over two years we have defined the modern player sets to include all “main set” cards. This can include regional, oddball, and collector cards. We had to define the Basic sets because there were too many opinions as to what constituted a “basic” modern player set and we needed to have some consistency.
In recent weeks, however, some members have indicated to us that they would like to see more restrictive basic sets which would include only the very mainstream issues. As a result we have loaded several “primary card” sets.
Because the term “basic” is widely used by vintage card collectors and because “basic” vintage player sets only include the very mainstream cards, we would like to begin using the same terminology for the modern player sets. Therefore, what we will be doing in the next few weeks is changing the name of the “basic” modern player sets to “Basic & Collectors Issues” and change the “primary” modern player sets to “Basic Sets.” In this way, the “basic” set will be the same for both vintage and modern player sets, i.e. only mainstream cards. The current basic sets become, what might be considered, a hybrid between basic and master."
The (ryan) basic set was getting too out of control, and people with HOARDS of certain cards (1981 permagraphics credit card) successfully added this card to the basic set to creat a demand. The same thing TRIED to happen the the 55 topps set by adding th missing cards (released at the national). Dealers hoarded these cards and tried, THANKFULLY to no avail, to make them part of the 55 topps set registry. I digress a quick thanks for listening to us!

No traded sets, no oddball or regional issues, none of that stuff belongs in a basic set. People who have a stranglehold on specific items and have somehow gotten them into the basic set.
I applaud the move.

<< <i>The "missing" cards from the '55 set? What are you talking about? How can dealers hoard cards that were missing if they were never released by Topps in the first place? >>
At the National a few years ago, there was a 4 card promo set of Musial, Ford, Feller, and Score that could only have been acquired at the National. It's not that they were printed back in 1955 and hidden away until now. They have nothing to do with the original print run of 1955 Topps, but in my opinion more like a "what could have been, but never was" kinda thing. I do believe that those 4 players were the same 4 that were supposed to have occupied the empty slots in the 1955 set.
<< <i>Not to mention why not Mantle, Campanella? I dont like the idea at all.. >>
Well there was one person, I cant remeber exactly who, who was 100000% for adding the "missing cards". They are even numbered as the missing cards from the set. Come to find a few "dealers" (of course not the same lobbier
The Ryan
The wheels turn slowly at psa,, their employees are good and well meaning,, but their not collectors (psa registry members)
